Fingerprints of God: Animals

Good afternoon! Today we wrapped up our five-week series on the Fingerprints of God, and today we talked about how we see the fingerprints of God in the creation and existence of animals!

We started in Genesis, with chapter 1, verses 26 through 28…
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

We dove into the Psalms a little bit today too, and there is just some incredible encouragement to be found in Psalm 36:5-7. It reads…
“5 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.”

Here’s an excerpt from Job 12, where Job is being made a laughing stock, but he tells us that the animals are still pointing to the existance of God, and Job stood firm and praised God through all the trials and tribulations that he experienced.

“I have become a laughingstock to my friends,
though I called on God and he answered—
a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!
Those who are at ease have contempt for misfortune
as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.
The tents of marauders are undisturbed,
and those who provoke God are secure—
those God has in his hand.[a]

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
    or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.
11 Does not the ear test words
    as the tongue tastes food?
12 Is not wisdom found among the aged?
Does not long life bring understanding?

Our word of the day today was animal related, and it was diurnal‘! (Adj, [dahy-ur-nl]
In the animal world, this word means active by day, as certain birds and insects’

I left you today with the encouragement of Matthew 10:29-31…
“29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[a] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

As always, thanks for listening, and have a great day!

Game Time Tuesday!

Good Tuesday afternoon!
The Ohio State Fair has released the performing artists for the 2017 fair!
This year For King and County will be there, and Zach Williams will be there also! If you’d like more information about the fair and these concerts, click here!

Uplifting Tuesday today had it’s roots at the end of WWII.
“An Auschwitz survivor and the Scottish commando who saved her celebrated their 71st Valentine’s Day together this week. John Mackay, 96, helped liberate a number of prisoners from the concentration camp—including Hungarian Jew Edith Steiner, now 92. The two met at a village dance to celebrate the prisoners’ liberation and have been together ever since. They married in 1946 and eventually settled in Dundee, Scotland—where, this year, the couple rang in Feb. 14 at a party in their senior citizens’ home. “It’s lovely to have such a real example of true love with us,” said one staff member.”

We also had another Uplifting Tuesday story, and this one was cookie related!
“After a Girl Scout selling cookies was robbed at gunpoint, California cops reached into their own pockets to make things right. Harshita Phardwaj, 12, and her mom were running a cookie stand outside a Union City supermarket when a man threatened them with a gun and stole all their cash. Local police are still looking for the culprit, but decided to help Phardwaj’s fundraising drive by buying all of her remaining cartons of Samoas, Thin Mints, and other Girl Scout Cookies — donating $1,000 in total. “We did what we could to make it loving, compassionate, and healing,” says Officer Lisa Gratez.”

Our lyrics for song poetry today were:
“Then like a hero who takes the stage when
We’re on the edge of our seats saying it’s too late”
This song is MercyMe’s ‘Flawless’!

And our Name That Tune today was Mighty to Save from Laura Story!

Congrats to Darcy of Howard who guessed our Song Poetry correctly, and to Landis of Belleville who won our ‘Name that Tune’ today!
They will both be receiving a $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley!

Our word of the day today is ‘Cabotage‘ (noun *  KAB-uh-tahzh)
This means “trade or transport in coastal waters or airspace or between two points within a country.” To learn more about this word, check it out here!

Thanks for listening!
Have a great rest of your day!

A Musical Mystery Monday!

Joe and I are back from NRB! It was an incredible trip, but it is good to be back here with you in rainy Ohio. Today was Mystery Monday, which meant the return of the Mystery Box! Since I never get to do Monday shows, Joe let me hide an item in the mystery box! I did do a Monday show with him over Christmas break, and he hid a razor in there, so today it was my turn!
I have to admit, Joe seemed pretty stumped until Lopez called in, but congrats to Lopez from Mt. Vernon who correctly guessed what the item was! He will receive a $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley! The item was a guitar capo!

Returning from Florida, we have so many points and takeaways from NRB, but one of Joe’s big highlights was listening to Dr. Tony Evans speak on Wednesday night at NRB. To really sum up what Dr. Evans said, Joe said this:
“Part of our call as Christians is to go out and fix what is broken. We can’t sit back and just watch things break, we have to be proactive in fixing what is broken.”
Dr. Evans is on the forefront of racial reconciliation and he really convicted us that evening, which made it a highlight for all 11 of us.
Here’s a link to the recap video I did of our trip! Check it out!

Lifeline 2017 is coming up at the end of this month! Our theme this year is ‘Let it be Love’ based off the song from Family Force 5, and John 13-:34-35, which reads:
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”
Mark your calendars for March 29th, because Lifeline is coming!!!
Learn more about what Lifeline is and how you can help, here!

Our word of the day today was: affable (adjective af·fa·ble \ˈa-fə-bəl\)
This word means being pleasant and at ease in talking to others;  characterized by ease and friendliness. Check out the origin and facts about this word here

Have a wonderful evening!
Blessings,

BEHIND THE SONG WITH KEVIN DAVIS, #744 -

Cameron and Christa talked today on the Afternoon Drive about the stories behind the songs Come Alive by Lauren Daigle and Stars by Skillet.

They also shared the word of the day: laconic (using or involving the use of a minimum of words : concise to the point of seeming rude or mysterious).

We also got a surprise call from Joe and Eddie! We heard about how things have going at NRB and some of the greatest take-aways!

Who Knew!

While Joe and Co. are still in Florida for the National Religious Broadcaster’s convention, Christa and Cameron held down the fort with “Who Knew Wednesday!”

They looked at famous people from Ohio focusing on people from the counties surrounding us. (That’s Paul Edward Lynde, above. He was on quite a few TV shows and in the original Bye, Bye Birdie! film. He was born in Mount Vernon!) If you want to see the whole list of people, you can find it HERE.

The word of the day today was “exponent” and it means: a symbol written above and to the right of a mathematical expression to indicate the operation of raising to a power OR: one that expounds or interprets OR: one that champions, practices, or exemplifies
