More Fun in Fredericktown!

It’s Praise Thursday! We shared praise and worship songs, devotionals and encouragement all throughout the show, and we were On The Road With Big Blue again at the 47th Annual Fredericktown Tomato Show! Alyssa and the Big Blue Crew shared updates live from downtown Fredericktown, as the festival’s schedule is full of fun and activities all weekend long!

Verse for today: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

We can trust Him today because we know He holds tomorrow!

For ‘Name That Tune’, our song was ‘Take It All Back’ by Tauren Wells and Davies. Congratulations to Brandon from Mount Vernon, who guessed correctly and wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica.

Thanks for listening!

Water Coolers, Tomato Shows, and Who Knew Wednesday!

Today on The Afternoon Drive we went On The Road With Big Blue for the 48th Fredericktown Tomato Show in downtown Fredericktown! Marcy shared updates with the Big Blue Crew as they had tons of fun, including a message from our friend Brad: “Come to the Fredericktown Tomato Show and meet the Big Blue Crew!”

We also shared some weird facts about water coolers for Who Knew Wednesday…who knew a song by the 80s band Toto could be named after one?

The 1982 hit song “Rosanna” by Toto, commonly believed to have been written about Rosanna Arquette, the actress daughter of Patricia and David Arquette, is actually about David Paich’s childhood water cooler, a Glacier Bay 5 Gallon Hot, Room and Cold Water Dispenser. Paich nicknamed the watercooler Rosanna, which unfortunately met her end in an accident during Paich’s parents’ move from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara in 1980- PointsInCase.com

Josh Baldwin Hits #1 For The First Time

Hey!!

Today on The Afternoon Drive it was Artist News Day and Game Time Tuesday, and we featured none other than Josh Baldwin with his first ever #1 single “Made For More”. Per jesusfreakhideout.com, the song has garnered over 14.2 million global streams, and has reached No. 1 on the Radio Mediabase Charts and No. 10 on Billboard’s Audience Chart. It sits as Baldwin’s fastest growing record, and has also proved to be deeply impactful for churches across the nation, as many have been using it as an integral track for worship services.

Baldwin has been thrilled to see the song’s success, stating that “It’s been so special for me to watch people connect with this song…going on the road and hearing people declare these lyrics of identity and purpose over their lives has given me a fresh perspective of the impact songs can have on us.”

Our God is bigger than all our problems
The only one who knows how to solve ’em
So if you’re sittin’ in the back, rock bottom
Prayers in the air if you got ’em

A new season…focused on the cross!

Today is the start of the fall semester at MVNU and I’m starting my 20th year of teaching communication and media. Today our President, Dr. Carson Castleman, shared a message about the power of the cross and how the life and sacrifice of Jesus encourages the surrender of:

  • Our worries. The act of surrender allows us to put our trust in Him.
  • Our control. We can’t manage every aspect of life. Let go of this illusion. Trust His ways!
  • Our past! Christ is ready to give us a fresh start! Our shared need for forgiveness binds us together.

Psalm 55:22 says,

“Cast your cares on the Lord
    and he will sustain you;
he will never let
    the righteous be shaken.”

Name something that thrill seekers love to ride.

Seph Schlueter Reflects On Counting My Blessings.

Hi!

Today on the show it was Artist News Day and Game Time Tuesday. We featured for Artist News Day this week Seph Schlueter and his song Counting My Blessings. Seph has accomplished several things throughout his short career so far. He has already collected several awards and recognitions for his song Counting My Blessings.

Below is the article about these accomplishments:

Seph Schlueter is celebrating his breakout song Counting My Blessings. This song of course was number one on the Christian Airplay Chart for several weeks.

Here is what Seph had to say about his song Counting My Blessings, “This song is about gratitude and that’s so universal,” he says. “Everyone can relate to gratitude. In a world where there’s so much negativity and complaining and fear, to see a song blowing up about gratitude is so important.”

Seph’s song Counting My Blessings has received several awards. He has been named the Christian Music Broadcaster’s Breakout Artist of the year and he has been nominated for his first GMA Dove Awards. He has been nominated for New Artist of the Year as well as Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year.

You turned the light on and flipped the script
I’m suddenly seeing what I used to miss
Got me living in the present tense
With a love so deep, You’re the greatest gift
.

The answer is Just As You Are by Ryan Stevenson.

Congratulations to Barb of Fredericktown for guessing the correct answers! She wins a $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant.

Getting Started, again!

Today we officially start the new academic year at MVNU with our annual University Dinner and the return of most of our student leaders. Faculty begin meetings tomorrow and classes start in one week. That’s exciting, but also maybe daunting for those of us renewing our school year, again.

So my motivation message to you today comes from Jeremy Camp and the song, “Getting Started.” Sometimes getting something renewed or started again can come with mixed emotions. This song reminds us to put Jesus at the center of each and every day. New life begins and the old is renewed when we do this!

Name something you can ride on.

  1. A bicycle (29 votes)
  2. A horse (23)
  3. A scooter or motorcycle (19)
  4. A roller coaster (16)
  5. Bus or train (13)

Congratulations to Gabriel from Mount Vernon, who wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening,
Joe
