Happy 39th Anniversy WNZR!!

Today during The Afternoon Drive, we celebrated WNZR’s 39th anniversary! We were live from the chapel parking lot giving away 90+9 ice cream cups from Round Hill Dairy! Marcy shared wonderful memories about WNZR’s growth and worship music that went along with them! Our memories and songs started at 2007 during The Afternoon Drive!

Who knew fact checks: WNZR purchased Big Blue in 2009? Yes! Our station vehichle was purchased from Federicktown Chevrolet and it took a month to get our logo wrap finsihed along with our equipment. We’ve been on the road since June 2009!

Who knew fact checks: WNZR used to host video premieres of VeggieTales? WNZR radio hosted live remote broadcasts at approximately 30 off- campus community events. WNZR also hosted three community VeggieTales video premieres on campus in July, November, and March!

Who Am I?

1. I spent time at WNZR before I was born

2. My first baby laugh was used as a Christmas liner

3. I hold the record for being the youngest on air DJ at WNZR

4. I was a host at a new children’s program called “Kid’s Playlist”

I am… Rachel Rinehart! Congratulations to Emily of Mount Vernon for guessing our Who Am I Trivia correctly and taking home a $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Tune in tomorrow for Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive!

Thank you so much for listening!

Cast All Your Cares On Him.

We took some time to slow down, listen to worship music, read some devotionals, and remembered to breathe during The Afternoon Drive today.

We read in 1 Peter today, where it tells us to “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (5:7) Such a powerful and comforting truth we get to live in! Whatever the enemy tries to come attack us with, we can take the offense and use God’s Word to dismantle anxiety and fear. Our surrender and worship to God is how we fight our battles! We also see in Ephesians where it tells us to “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (6:11) Read Ephesians chapter 6, verse 10-20! It is such a beautiful passage and it reminds us to not stop praying, no matter what! Call on God to just flood you with His peace and His presence! He is with you. He is always Emmanuel, which means “God with us”!

We listened to Seph Schlueter’s newest song on WNZR that has been speaking to so many hearts. It’s called Won’t Start Now, and it goes so well in reminding us that we can always cast our cares onto Him, and He has never changed that truth, and He won’t start now! (Or ever!)

We also were on the road with Big Blue this afternoon at the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival! We got to give away prize baskets for kids and adults (If you want to register for these prize baskets, register on wnzr.fm), and the Big Blue Crew got to talk with many people involved with Mount Vernon and the festival!

The Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival will be running from August 7th until Sunday, August 10th, so come on down to the downtown Mount Vernon public square, say hi to the Big Blue Crew, get registered for a prize basket, and enjoy the many attractions and events at the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival!

Today we played a game of Name That Tune! This week we played a fan favorite that we hear on WNZR.

This week, our Name That Tune song was The Prodigal from Josiah Queen! Congratulations to Lindsey from Fredericktown for calling in and guessing the song title and artist correctly! Tune in tomorrow for the NZ Top 10 and for a first-look at some new music getting added to WNZR!

Thank you so much for listening!

Apples and Bread!

We started the show with the new total from the Starting Point Family Day and 5K event that was last Saturday October 1st. The current total is at $36,440 with $1,560 to go to reach their goal of $38,000. If you would like to donate to help reach this goal just click on this link and click donate.

On the road with Big Blue! Join the Big Blue Crew at the Johnny Appleseed Apple Fest sponsored by The Peoples Bank of Gambier, tomorrow Friday October 7th, from 5-8pm. East Ohio Avenue between South Main and South Gay will be pack with vendors, food trucks, live performers and more! Don’t forget to stop by Big Blue to register to win a special baked apple desserts from Least of These Ministries! We are giving away 4 of these home-made desserts- 2 apple pies and 2 loaves of Dutch-apple bread. So don’t forget to stop by and see Big Blue!

Johnathon shared a devotional from “Our Daily Bread” titled Lego Lessons. In this devotional told the story of the creator of Legos Ole Kirk Christiansen. That it took Christiansen years until Legos were finally sold in stores. That with perseverance in challenges of work we can strive to grow not only in our work but also in our faith.

Emma then shared day five ofWhile We Wait.” The author of day 5 Liz Sarno wrote about her trip to NYC and all of the delays that she went through on her trip. That because of these delays we become agitated and frustrated, but we have no clue what amazing things God has for us in those delays. That when we are patient and embrace the waiting it can refine us and bring us to a place of wholeness.

Game time with name that tune and we are continuing giving away The Action Bible! Congrats to Lyle from Howard for guessing the correct answer of Glorify by Jordan Feliz! If you still want an Action Bible there is still time, we are giving them away next week during the Afternoon Drive.

Thank you for listening!

God’s Community

Join WNZR to celebrate our 36th Anniversary this Saturday October 1st! First at Knox Starting Point Family Day and 5K from 10am-Noon at the Fredericktown Community Park. Then at Memorial Park in Mount Vernon for the TAC (Teen Advisory Council) Color for a Cause and 1 Mile Walk and Run from Noon-3pm, and will be broadcasting from 1pm-3pm. Also, at both events the first 90 people to stop by Big Blue will get homemade buckeyes from The Least Of These Ministries.

Emma then shared day four of the devotional series While We Wait. She shared that when we are going through hard times we need a “true community” and not be isolated to the darkness we are going through. That this true and trusted community can anchor us and give us peace during this season of darkness. That this community should remind us that God is for us.

Jonathon then shared a devotional from Our Daily Bread about The Power Of a Name. How God changed Abraham and Sarah names when he made a covenant of love with them. Showing us how names are important in the Bible, often reflecting a person’s character traits or role. That we should show joy by calling others by name and affirming who God created them to be.

Name that Tune! We gave away a special prize today, an Action Bible! Congrats to Caleb of Mount Vernon for guessing the correct answer of Hold On To Me by: Lauren Daigle! If you are interested in the Action Bible here is a link to purchase one.

It is global student prayer week! We prayed for our country, for the loss of Emma West, and for those who are effected by Hurricane Ian. If you want to help those who are effected by Hurricane Ian, Samaritan’s Purse is an amazing organization that is helping with disaster relief, here is a link to help!

Thank you so much for listening!
