He’s An Abundant God

Today we looked at two incredible devotions from Our Daily Bread! Our first devotional pulls from Matthew 18, and reminds us that we are to forgive others no matter how many times they may wrong us. If they ask forgiveness with pure intention and remorse, you are to forgive them, just as God has done so many times for you. Forgiveness, to infinity and beyond! Read the full devotional here.

Our second devotional reminds us that God has given us far more than we need. He has given us an abundance in His creation. From the many trees that bear fruit, to the stars in the sky, it’s evident our God is a creative, loving, and abundant God. But creation is not all that feels his abundance, Paul assures us in 1 Timothy that God’s grace is far more than enough, and offered knowing that we need it every day. Read the full devotional here.

We also played Name That Tune! We played a 15 second clip to see if you could tell us the artist and title of the song and win two $5 gift cards to Watts Restaurant in Utica! Unfortunately, our clip was a stumper for the second week! We’ll have a new clip for next week!

Thanks for listening!

Trust in God, He is in Control!

Today we listened to some great worship music! From Delirious to CeCe Winans, we had a wide variety of blasts from the pasts and new goodies all afternoon! We also shared some devotions, which certainly helped brighten up this cloudy, wet day!

On “Our Daily Bread Ministries”, we found a really inspiring story about a husband and wife, Tom and Nancy. While they were hiking in Maine one day, Tom fainted three times. Every doctor they visited said there was nothing they could find that was wrong. When Nancy asked the doctor what to do next, what they told her changed Nancy’s outlook on the situation. “Go live your life” is what they told her. What Nancy realized is that she doesn’t have to worry about what’s going to happen with her husband, because the One who knows all and has everything in control already has a plan. God spoke through that doctor that day, and we see here that God can speak through anyone and anything, in any situation!

If you want to read the full story and devotional, click here.

We also shared about trusting God in the trials. We know trials are going to come, the Bible makes that clear. But what the enemy means for evil, God means for good, and He’s shown time and time again that He will remain faithful and use whatever we go through to bring people to Him, and build His Kingdom! Whether, you’re angry, sad, or struggling with sin, God wants you to come to Him however you are, and leave changed! He wants you to trust in Him. He has good, specific plans for each and every one of us!

Today we played Name That Tune! We played a 15 second clip of a song, and if you can tell us the title of the song we play, and the artist, you can win that $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Today was a stumper! So make sure you tune in next week to hear the song clip, and try to guess the song title and artist who sings the song!

Thank you for listening!

Praises and Prizes!

He is Risen!

We’re so excited for Easter weekend! School getting out for a couple of days is great and all, but celebrating the greatest news ever, that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave to rescue us is even better!

It’s Praise Thursday here on The Afternoon Drive, and we wanna know what you’re praising the Lord for this Easter weekend!

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him.” Matthew 28:6-7

The grave is empty, and because of that we have hope!

Today’s track was “The Cross” by Anne Wilson and Chris Tomlin. Congratulations to Stacy from Mount Vernon for correctly naming the tune and getting the $5 Gift Card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening!- Judah

Wonderfully Made!

Tonight as Knox Starting Point celebrates its annual dinner, we are celebrating life with them! We remember the words of Psalm 139 that we are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made.’ We are somebody to Him!

Congratulations to Paisley from Mount Vernon, who guessed this song and wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening!

No Matter What…Give Him Praise!

Easier said than done, huh? We can say this and repeat it to ourselves and others as much as we want…sometimes it just doesn’t help.

It’s Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive, and we’re trying to remind ourselves to give thanks in ALL circumstances.

Yep, even when we don’t feel like it, HE is worthy of praise!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

If you’re finding yourself tired, burnt out and maybe just plain over it all, remember that God is always there to lift you up when you need Him.

Today’s track was “Running Back To You” by Seph Schlueter, correctly named by Rochelle from Mount Vernon! She wins TWO $5 Gift Cards to Watts Restaurant since last week’s was a stumper!

Thanks for listening!- Judah

Getting You To The Finish Line!

When you just want it to be Friday, Thursday can feel like the longest day ever. If you need that boost of encouragement to get to the finish line, we’ve got you covered!

It’s Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive, so of course we’ve got to give you some motivation to finish the week strong!

  • My lips will shout for joy
when I sing praise to you—
    I whom you have delivered.Psalm 71:23
  • But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.Psalm 13:5-6

These verses are the perfect reminders of the help and hope the Lord provides. If you’re struggling and need help, the Lord will always hear your cry.

“In The Eye of the Storm” by Ryan Stevenson is fantastic song about turning to God in the middle of despair:

“In the eye of the storm (yeah, yeah)
You remain in control (yes you do, Lord)
In the middle of the war
You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor
When my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me (Your love surrounds me)
In the eye of the storm (in the eye of the storm)”

A stumper this week! Next week’s Name That Tune will be worth TWO $5 Watts Restaurant Gift Cards!

Thanks for listening!- Judah
