Some hints: – we played this song in the 4pm hour today – the artist has had two different band names – the song title is one word and starts with R – the song was released in 2008 – this one will be a stumper for next week’s show!!
If you got that message in your email, voicemail, or text, would you wonder if it was true? Cindy Hess Kasper had a friend who did. Read about it here in her Our Daily Bread devotional, “Expecting Jesus.”
Joe shared a 2021 ODB classic, “Jesus is Our Peace,” from Con Campbell. Read it by clicking here.
We also talked about the wonderful message in this new song from Micah Tyler with Emerson Day, “People Like Us.”

Congratulations to Jeff from Centerburg, who guessed correctly and wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica.
Are you in the market for some wisdom? Some advice leading to good judgment? The Word of God is a great place to start:
“The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.” – James 3:17 (KJV)
Other translations of this verse include the adjectives, “considerate, submissive, impartial, sincere.” Today we shared a prayer from authors Christine Dallman and Randy Petersen:
‘”I’ve had enough of worldly wisdom, dear Lord, from so-called sages who tell me that money buys happiness and success brings friends. They say I should put myself first, indulging my desires and ignoring others. This, I’m told, is the path to fulfillment. But that can’t be right, can it? Lord, I ask for an extra helping of your ‘wisdom from above.’ Show me how to treat others with gentle love. Teach me to deal peaceably with the challenges in my life. Help me be fruitful and merciful. Erase the petty prejudices that keep me from appreciating your other children. Let me yield fully to your perfect wisdom and set aside the tame truisms of this world.”
Dylan shared a devotional from Our Daily Bread called ‘Words Reflect Our Heart.’ Read more here!
We had a stumper this week! A couple of hints: it was a song we played in the 4pm hour, a song that samples part of a classic hymn and part of the hymn title is in the title of this song.
Today we shared a devotional from Mike Wittmer and ‘Our Daily Bread’ about what extravagant love from a Christ-follower looks like. Mike shares the story of someone he met on an airplane flight. Read more here by clicking this link!
Dylan also spoke with Carolyn Fergus, Executive Director of Interchurch Social Services, about their new branch location in Centerburg. Listen to the conversation on our Soundcloud page here!
Today’s song: Jeremy Camp and ‘Let Everything That Has Breath.’ Congratulations to Sandi from Mount Vernon, who guessed correctly and wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica.
Today on the show I shared a devotional from Our Daily Bread titled, “We Can’t Out-Love God.” This devotional is really inspirational by sharing how God’s love is stronger than our love will ever be. We also had our ‘Name That Tune’ trivia where one lucky person has a chance to win a $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant.
Here is the link to my devotional from Our Daily Bread. Click HERE.
Faithfully by TobyMac!
Congratulations to Lisa from Mount Gilead, who guessed correctly and wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica.
Abby shared a simple encouragement, from Matthew 6:26–“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow or reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” God provides for all of His Creation, down to the smallest creatures. We are not only His Creation, but His children– there is no need to worry because He WILL take care of us!
Mike talked about 1 Corinthians 10:13— “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” This is a message of hope that whatever situation we are in, God will help us out of it. We might not be able to handle some things on our own, but He will be present with us through all obstacles!
The Our Daily Bread devotional for today emphasized that God is our helper, and through our lives He will accomplish incredible things if only we ask for His help. Read it HERE.
Shout out to Lisa from Mount Vernon for calling in with the answer– See Me Through It by Brandon Heath. She wins a $5 gift card to Watt’s Restaurant in Utica!
Abby talked about Jesus as the “good shepherd.” He says in John 10:27-28, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” Shepherds have a full time job to protect these animals and make sure they do not wander– ultimately, the sheeps’ lives are in the hands of the shepherd. If anyone is going to be the best at His job, though, it’s Jesus! He makes it clear that NO ONE will snatch us out of His protection and care.
The Our Daily Bread devotional for today also talks about God’s tender and protective love. He is like a father holding His children to comfort them! Read it here.
Mike shared Jeremiah 17:7-8: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” This is a beautiful analogy for what a healthy relationship with God looks like. He is always supporting us and holding us up– and He will provide us with the water we need to grow in Him!
Shout out to Bethany from Mount Vernon for guessing today’s song– This Is Our God by Phil Wickham! She wins a $5 gift card to Watt’s Restaurant.
Abby shared the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 in John 6. Isn’t it incredible what He can do with what we give him, even if we don’t seem to have much to offer? The young boy who offered his meager lunch witnessed Jesus multiply his food beyond what he could have imagined possible. When we are hungry and lacking, Jesus fills us with “food that endures to eternal life” (verse 27). Let us come to him with what we have and trust that he will provide all we need and more!
The Our Daily Bread for today focused on how all of creation worships its Maker, like in Psalm 65:13— “The meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with rain, they shout and sing together for joy.” Read it HERE!
Mike talked about 1 Peter 5:6, which says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” If we practice humility and instead from buying into superficial standards appearance, possessions, or success, we will be exalted in more fulfilling ways!
Shout out to Dawn from Mount Vernon for guessing Lifesong by Casting Crowns! She wins a $5 gift card to Watt’s Restaurant in Utica.
For today’s Praise Thursday, Mike shared Hebrews 11:6— “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” This verse really ties in with this year’s Lifeline theme, “I Believe It.” Our belief is what enables us to draw near to God, and it should be foundational to the way we live our lives. If we fully believe in His existence and seek Him, the reward is great!
We shared the Our Daily Bread devotional for today, which is about “Helping as God Helps Us.” Read it here!
On the theme of helping others, Abby talked about 1 Thessalonians 5:14— “And we urge you, brothers, admonish, the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” This verse not only encourages us to reach out to those around us, but to consider how everyone is unique in what kind of help they need. Let us be intentional in how we treat people, and keep in mind that they are uniquely created!
