These are Joe’s flowers that have been blooming in the past few weeks.

Joe talked today about how crazy these past few weeks have been, but despite those circumstances, God continues to grow flowers in the ashes and the valley. He is always holding a watering can!

Praise, devotionals, stories…and Sonfest tickets!

Need some encouragement? Good news, it’s Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive!

This afternoon, we shared praise and worship songs all throughout the show, as well as devotionals, stories of encouragement and a little reminder that none of us have it all together.

With Sonfest just around the corner, we’re giving out tickets all week long! Congratulations to Julie for correctly answering today’s trivia questions and winning the tickets!

Getting to Know Red Rocks

For the first hour of today’s show we heard interviews with Kory Miller of Red Rocks Worship, one of the artists that will be at SonFest this year. Kory shared how excited the band is playing at SonFest this Saturday. He also shared with us how God has worked within the band and the exciting news that the band is recording a new album! If you miss the interviews you can listen on our Sound Cloud.

Emma shared day two of the devotional called While We Wait. Sharing the encouraging message that God is working in your waiting season. This devotional talks about the story of David, that he had to wait 20 years before he became King of Israel. We all have a purpose and a calling, which means we have to embrace the waiting.

Jonathon shared a devotional from Our Daily Bread titled God in the Details, making a connection between a family craving carrots and a God that is in every aspect of our lives. This devo also shares the story of Moses and his calling to free the Israelites from the hands of Egypt.

Game Time! We played name that tune and SonFest Trivia. Congrats to Jan of Howard for winning name that tune! The song was God Is on the Move by 7eventh Time Down. Congrats to Damon of Danville for winning today’s SonFest Trivia. He wins two tickets to SonFest!

Wolves and Doves

Its Artist News Day! We started with interviews with Steve Cobucci one of the band members of Wolves at the Gate. Wolves at the Gate will be preforming at SonFest 2022 at 2:35pm on the main stage. If you missed the interview, you can hear them tomorrow during the Morning Thing!

Emma shared exciting news about Phil Wickham announcing a his new Singalong Tour starting in 2023. What is really exciting is that Matt Maher and Leeland will also be on the road with Wickham. Ticket per-sale starts soon and the tour kicks off in January till late May of 2023!

Jonathon then shared some news about Chris Tomlin and 5 time GRAMMY award winner Erica Campbell will be hosting the 53rd GMA Dove Awards. This year’s Award show will take place in person on Tuesday, October 18th, while the broadcast will be aired exclusively on the Trinity Broadcasting Network Friday, October 21st.

Game time! We played song poetry, there was no winner this week, but next week there is a chance to win two $5 gift cards to Round Hill Dairy. Game Time!

It’s Artist News Day and there is some exciting news in the Christian music today! Emma shared that Chris Tomlin and Hillsong UNITED have extend the Tomlin UNITED Tour. Tickets are on sale now and concerts start on November, 3rd. Jonathon then shared about Colton Dixon releasing a new music video for his new song “Build a Boat.” This music video was a collaboration with Mercy Ship, a charitable organization that runs the world’s first purpose-built civilian hospital ship.

Don’t forget to see Big Blue at the Fredericktown Tomato Show starting Tomorrow September 7th through Saturday September 10th. The Big Blue Crew will also be throwing candy and frisbees at the annual Tomato Show Parade this Saturday at 12:30 pm. Be on the look out to register to win a WNZR Prize Basket. Everyday of the Tomato Show we are giving away an Adult and Kids prize basket. Then on Saturday the 10th we will be giving away one Student prize basket.

Mystery Monday!

Today Joe and I recapped a great weekend and gave you a chance to win!
The Centerburg Old-time farming festival was a huge hit! On Saturday morning Big blue a the Crew were in the parade and then on Saturday we broadcasted live and gave a prize. Congrats again to Mary from Mt. Vernon.

Choose to Be Happy at Work

Happiness is mostly a choice. You can choose to be happy at work. It sounds simple, but it’s often difficult to put into action. We all wish to have the best employer in the world, but, let’s face it, we may not.

So, think positively about your work. Dwell on the aspects that you enjoy about work, and avoid negative people and gossip. Find coworkers you like and spend your time with them. Your choices at work largely define your experience. You can choose to be happy at work.

Who Knew Wednesday

Today Todd and I celebrated Constitution Day!

We started the Afternoon Drive with a conversation with our very own Joe Rineheart and Dr. Christopher Devine, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Dayton, who’s speaking tonight about the Electoral College!

This event is tonight at 7 in Jetter Hall, Room 133 on the MVNU campus; Jetter Hall is the single-story brick building just east of the chapel parking lot.
