Praise Thursday and Colton Dixon

Today on Praise Thursday we continued to discuss the five habits to help us lead like Jesus from the book Lead Like Jesus. We focused on solitude which is being completely alone with God.

Jesus modeled solitude for us:

  • When preparing for the tests of leadership and ministry, Jesus spent forty days alone in the desert. (Mathew 4)
  • Before Jesus chose His twelve apostles from among His followers He spent the night alone in the desert hills (Luke 6)
  • When Jesus received the news of John the Baptist’s death he took a boat to a lonely place. (Mathew 14)
  • After the feeding of the five thousand, Jesus went up in the hills by Himself. (Mathew 14)

It was in these times of preparing to lead, making important decisions, handling bad news, and dealing with praise and recognition that Jesus modeled for us the value of spending time alone to seek re-calibration of our spiritual instruments for finding the “true north” of God’s will and pleasure.

Where in the World is Colton Dixon?

Game Time Tuesday – 9/8

Today was Game Time Tuesday on the Afternoon Drive and we had 2 rounds of song poetry!

Kristen from Mount Vernon won our first round when she correctly guessed that the lyrics, We’ve been remade by grace/ We’ve all got new names/ And nothing we do could ever change/ What He did that day, belong to Josh Wilson’s song That Was Then, This Is Now.

Our second round of song poetry used these lyrics:

Your presence in this place
Your glory on our face
We’re looking to the sky
Descending like a cloud
You’re standing with us now
Lord, unveil our eyes

Dante from Gambier called in and correctly guessed that those lyrics are from Open Up The Heavens by Meredith Andrews.

Chris Tomlin Game Time Tuesday

Today was Game Time Tuesday on the Afternoon Drive, and we had a special version of Song Poetry.

We played Chris Tomlin Song Poetry with these lyrics:

There’s a place where mercy reigns and never dies

There’s a place where streams of grace flow deep and wide

Where all the love I’ve ever found

Comes like a flood, comes flooding down

Travis from Mt. Vernon quickly called in and guessed that those lyrics belonged to Chris Tomlin’s song At The Cross (Love Ran Red) to win a pair of tickets to see Chris Tomlin at the Knox County Fair on August 3rd. We’ll be playing Chris Tomlin Song Poetry on the Afternoon Drive and Morning thing all this week and next week for your chance to win a pair of tickets, so make sure to keep listening.
