God Gives Us Wisdom to Handle Trials

This week, we continued our series on the book “Can God be Trusted in our Trials?” from Tony Evans. In this section, we talked about God giving us wisdom to handle our trials.
James 1:5 is a great promise that God will supply the wisdom needed to Indore a trial  and come out victorious on the other side. The Bible says, “but if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. “
Let’s not miss read this promise. God is saying that he will always answer the ‘why’ question Of your particular trial. Actually, he has already answered it by telling us that our trials are designed for our good and our growth so the wisdom God wants us to ask him for is not the why of the trial but the how of your particular trial. Actually, he has already answered it by telling us that our trials are designed for our good and our growth so the wisdom God wants us to ask him for is not the why of the trial but the how: that is “Lord, I need your wisdom to know how to react to this trial so that I am faithful to you and it’s an experience the growth and blessing you have for me.
Lord, I need your wisdom to know how to react to this trial so that I am faithful to you and had an experience the growth and blessing you have for me. “
Biblically, wisdom is the ability to apply divine truth to the various circumstances of life. What we need to know when I’ll trails is the right life application to make. That’s a tall order.  Which is why God promises us not just a trickle of divine wisdom, but an overflow. God promises to answer us generously, which allows us to see the problem or the trail from his perspective and not merely from the physical reality is that we observe around us.
This promise is mind-boggling, but there is a condition attached to it. We may lack wisdom, but that’s no excuse for lack of faith. We read and James 1:6–8, “but he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that men aunt not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double minded man, unstable in all his ways. “
Being double minded means you can’t make up your mind whether you really want God’s wisdom or not. You can’t decide whether you want to hang in there and complete the test or bail out and take the seemingly easy road. I double minded Christian is a schizophrenic saint  Who is divided mind and wishy-washy attitude don’t exactly move the Lauren to answer his prayers. Why? Because “without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and he is a rewarder of those who seek him. “God is not fellowship with unbelief.
What happens to often in a trials that we Vacillate from God to man, from the spiritual to the physical, from the human to the divine perspective. This doesn’t mean we should not seek council from spiritually mature people, but when we are double minded we don’t elicit guards response. The reality is that far too many Christians are attempting to live in both worlds, but what they wind up with is only man’s view, because God says a person like this cannot expect anything from him.
This doesn’t mean we should not seek council from spiritually mature people, but when we are double minded we don’t elicit guards response. The reality is that far too many Christians are attempting to live in both worlds, but what they wind up with is only man’s view, because God says a person like this cannot expect anything from him.
You may be saying at this point, “how about a real life illustration of what it means to be a single minded Christian in a trial and see God’s blessing question you may be saying at this point, “how about real life illustration of what it means to be a single minded Christian in a trial and see God‘s blessing?”  James took care of that for us in James 1:9–11 with an example we can all identify with money. “The brother of humble circumstances is to glory  in his high position;  in the rich man is to glory in his humiliation because like flower and grass he will pass away”.

Real Money, Real World Who Knew!

Today we gave you all the ins, outs, and Who Knew’s about the Real Money, Real World program! The first local simulations was earlier today at the Knox County Career Center, and the second one will be on May 2nd in the Mt. Vernon HS gymnasium from 8:00am – 11:30am.

To hear Hannah Radke’s full conversation with Larry Hall, click here!
To learn more about Real Money, Real World, click here!

Real Money. Real World. (RMRW) is a financial literacy program for youth from Ohio State University Extension.  It can be used with youth ages 12 – 18 but is ideally suited for youth ages 13-16.  This curriculum is time tested and has been highly successful because of the creative community efforts of Extension educators, local school teachers, and community volunteers.

Real Money. Real World. is fun and distinctive because it includes an interactive spending simulation that provides the opportunity to make lifestyle and budget choices similar to those made by 27-year-old adults. As a program of Ohio State University Extension, the most preferred and successful RMRW programs are partnerships of the county OSU Extension office, the school, and the business community.

RMRW Goals

Real Money. Real World. has three primary goals:

  1. To increase participants’ awareness of how education level and corresponding career choice influence personal income and financial security.
  2. To increase the students’ knowledge of money management tools used in daily spending for cost-of-living decisions.
  3. To increase participants’ awareness of how income and lifestyle choices affect the amount of money available for discretionary spending.

RMRW Overarching Objectives

RMRW is designed to increase participant awareness related to:

  • How the type of job affects how much income can be earned.
  • The level of education needed to get the job desired.
  • The amount of money deducted from paychecks for taxes, other withholdings, health insurance, and retirement.
  • How financial institutions help with personal money management.
  • What it costs to maintain a household.
  • What it costs to care for a child.
  • How every spending decision affects other spending opportunities.

Praise Thursday!

Today Lilly and I jumped back into chapter one of “Can God be Trusted In Our Trials?” By Tony Evans.

Today we talked about “Adding It Up” and “This Will Be On The Test” sections of Chapter One.

Adding it up was digging into what some of the specific words in our ” Theme verses”  for basically this whole book.

James 1:2-4 – “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

That word “consider” is a divine mathematical term for adding up what your trials are doing and come up with the true answer, which is “all joy”.

We also talked about the word “encounter” in this verse and how it means to run into something, not something to bring you down on your own head.

Overall, in this section, we learned that we will encounter trials just by being alive.  In fact, Jesus said in John 16:33 “In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world”

This will be on the test was about how God uses trials like tests in school to help us prepare for the next spiritual level! God is taking the time to grow us into who he wants us to be!

Today we gave away not one, not two, but THREE sets (That is six tickets) to the MVNU spring musical “Leader of the Pack” with there opening night being – well tonight!

Pet Day Who Knew!

36.5% of US households own a dog, 30.4% own cats, 3.1% own birds and 1.5% own horses. Starting a blog with a statistic like that must mean it’s pet day!

FUN FACTS AND STATISTICS

  • 94% of pet owners say their animal pal makes them smile more than once a day.
  • Pet owners in the United States spent $60.28 billion on their furry friends in 2015.
  • Nearly 80 million U.S. households have a pet, and 42 percent of those households have more than one.
  • 81 percent of cat owners let their cats sleep on the bed.
  • 73 percent of dog owners let their dogs sleep on the bed.
  • Forty-five percent of pet owners say they occasionally (or frequently) buy presents for their animals.
  • 90% of pet owners say they consider their pet a member of the family.

Dogs and cats are the most common household animals, so of course, we have some fun facts about our furry friends.

  • Dalmatians are born without spots!  They are born with plain white coats with their first spots appearing after they are 1week old.
  • Nine percent of dog owners will have a birthday party for their pet.
  • Every dog has a unique nose print with no two alike.
  • Dogs have about 100 different facial expressions, most of them made with the ears.
  • Cats have no collarbone, which is one reason they are so flexible.
  • Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds, while dogs have about ten!
  • Cats don’t typically meow at each other—that’s a communication tool reserved for their humans.
  • A cat’s tongue is scratchy because it’s lined with papillae—tiny elevated backwards hooks that help to hold prey in place.

Ever ask yourself what the most popular pet names are?
For dogs…
Max, Charlie, Cooper, Buddy, and Jack are the 5 most popular male dog names.
