Concert Season is Coming!

Jonathon shares that Casting Crowns will be at The Ohio State Fair. The will be performing at the Celeste Center at the Ohio State Fair on Monday, July 31st at 7pm, doors will open at 6pm. Finding your way when you’re lost…or asleep.

Today’s Monday Motivation starts with a devotional from Leslie Koh on finding our way back when we lose our way. Read “Pressing On in Jesus” by clicking here.

We also shared encouragement from Revelation 3 about ‘waking up’ when we get lazy or fall asleep. Joe’s pastor recently talked about a ‘revival’ of the heart where we wake up spiritually. The keys to this include:

  • breaking complacency
  • killing laziness
  • feeding what you want to grow – focusing on getting fed by the things of God
  • obeying, repenting, and repeating as needed: “God, help me to be obedient and approach you with a humble and repentant heart…”
  • guarding your heart – if the heart is our wellspring and where we hold everything, then allow God His rightful place on the throne of your heart

Verses that help with this process include: Matthew 8:35 and 23:37, Ephesians 5:14, Isaiah 26:19 and 52:1, Psalms 3:5 and 57:8, Proverbs 4:23 and Philippians 4:7.

It’s Thursday, so it’s another Day of Devotion and Praise on the Afternoon Drive!

Today, Emma continued her devotional series “Well-Being” with this week’s addition, “The Journey to Forgiveness”.

Jonathon also shared a devotional that he saw from Our Daily Bread on his social media feed, entitled “God Speaking to Us”.

What’s Up with MTVarts?

Today we shared the scoop on what’s going on with the MTVarts Summer Musical, now that the Knox Memorial will be closed for HVAC renovations.

Marcy talked with Janis Stone (Business Manager) and Bruce Jacklin (Artistic Director) about the changes, which include postponing ‘The Little Mermaid’ until 2024, and bringing ‘Sister Act’ to the Woodward Opera House in July. They also touch on the upcoming Classics Series, ‘Our Town,’ and the Arts IQ plans for ‘Matilda, Jr.’ this fall.

Sunny Skies and Artist News Time!

To start Artist News Day we have an UPDATE on the TobyMac, MercyMe, and Zach Williams tour! This will be a fall tour in November of this year. The tour will start on November 2nd and rap up on November 19th in Columbus! Tickets go on sale this week on Friday the 14th. If we are interested in more information click here!

We then continued Artist News Day with something really cool. Phil Wickham and We The Kingdom were featured on Fox &Friends’ new concert series segment sponsored by The Chosen, Hallow App, and The Museum of the Bible, called “Faith & Friends.” Phil Wickham performed first with his latest radio single, “This is Our God,” We The Kingdom preformed the following week with their song “Jesus Does.”

To update our Lifeline 2023 total is $76,685! Once again thank you so much to everyone who gave to Lifeline 2023 this year! It was so amazing to hear how God has been in your story. Once again thank you so much!

We played Song Poetry and congrats to Brandy from St. Louisville and she won one out of the three CDs and she choose a We The Kingdom CD. The lyrics were, “Almighty fortress, You go before us Nothing can stand against the power of our God You shine in the shadow, You win every battle Nothing can stand against the power of our God,” and that is Battle Belongs by: Phil Wickham. The Olive Tree

(from The Action Bible: Easter)

Come on in. You’re welcome to join us here in the garden of Gethsemane. Believe it or not, I’m one of the oldest trees in the grove. I’m 750 years old, give or take a decade. But I’m still going…and growing…even though my trunk is all twisted and knobby.

I come from a long line of olive trees. In fact, I’m sure some of my ancestors even grew in the garden of Eden. God made us not only beautiful, but useful too. Our silvery leaves provide shade. Our wood can be used to build chairs or cook meals. Did you know the trees like me even help create the air you breathe? God created us trees for all kinds of amazing purposes. Another unique feature we treat possess is we’re quiet…which makes us really good listeners.

Tonight, a young man was here asking God for help. Of course I listened, not because I’m nosy, but because the man was crying and praying with such urgency. I wanted to help. His friends called him Jesus. He was praying right beneath my branches. Do you know what his friends did? They fell asleep. Even after he’d ask them to pray with him. This must have made him feel completely alone.

Later in the night, another man arrived and greeted Jesus with a kiss on the cheek. Immediately, a noisy group of soldiers showed up and roughly took Jesus away. Those friends who came with Jesus were fully awake then! They scattered like the little creatures that run around the grove at night. I wanted to do something, but the roots that keep me growing also keep me in one place.

I’m sure his friends are praying now wherever they went. You know, 700 years ago when I was just a sapling, I heard another man named Isaiah talk to God in this garden. I think he was praying about Jesus – the very same man here tonight.

God has a plan. And having known God for as long as I have I bet it’s a good one.

CAR-mel or CAIR-uh-mel?

No matter how you say it, celebrate it today! It’s National Caramel Day. This sweet confection and ice cream topping dates back to the crystallization of sugar by Arabs several centuries ago.

Some say that the history of caramel goes back more than a thousand years back to the year 1000 A.D. when the sweet treat was discovered. The name at the time was rather literal, calling it the “kurat al milh”, which means “sweet ball of salt”.

This original version would have been the crunchy type of caramel that was made by crystallizing sugar in boiling water, which is something more like what is known as crunchy toffee today.

Caramel and other treats were enjoyed in the mid-1600s in the Americas, where people were known to have been making hard candies in kettles. Later, caramel developed into a candy that was made not only with sugar, but also included cream or milk, making it a much softer and chewy treat.

By 1886, Lancaster Caramel Company was started by none other than Milton S. Hershey, who would eventually go on to start the Hershey Company, which is one of the most famous American chocolate and candy companies today.
