A Bite-Sized Praise Thursday!

A father’s character begins with honesty
“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are his delight.”
Proverbs 12:22
The Bible clearly states that God always keeps his promises. In other words, He always speaks the truth. When a father can be trusted to speak the truth in every circumstance, he builds a bond of trust that pleases God and everyone in his family. Proverbs 13:3 says, “He who guards his mouth preserve his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.” Guard your words with those you love, for they are watching your character as you tried to build up their‘s.
Forgiveness is a trait God loves
“Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:17–18
Forgiveness is an essential element in living in Christian life. When you choose to forgive someone who has hurt you or disappointed you, the window of God‘s forgiveness will open to comfort and heal your own heart. Everything you do should reflect well on the Savior who bought you with his own blood. Pleasing God with your words and deeds opens the heavens door to bless your life for His glory. If God has forgiven you of your transgressions – “As far as the east is from the west” (Psalms 103:12)- Should you not do the same for anyone who has offended you?

Artist Newsday, Game Time Tuesday!

Today Lilly and I shared some Artist News about Bethel Music, 7eventh Time Down and gave you chances to win with Song Poetry and Name That Tune!

Bethel Music News

Bethel Music’s newest record Victory debuting Jan. 25, 2019. Bethel is known for anthems like “No Longer Slaves,” “One Thing Remains”. On this album, they dropped songs in partnership with Josh Baldwin with the song “Stand in Your Love” and “Living Hope” with Brian and Jenn Johnson. This awaited collection reminds the listener that Bethel Music is a community of real people traversing life’s challenges and triumphs.

The personal stories behind this album though, are what really make it shine. A huge part of The band’s inspiration for Victory came from the fight for young Jaxon Taylor, Son of Bethel Music CEO Joel Taylor

“Last Christmas, we almost lost our son to a battle with a deadly disease,” shares Joel. “We spent five-weeks of sleepless nights in the hospital by his side as our prayers became our weapons and our worship became our warfare. In the battle for his life, the global church community rose up like a mighty army and joined us in prayer and worship all over the world. Our son was miraculously healed and today is perfectly healthy. For us, Victory has become a declaration of truth over hopelessness, a prophetic statement in the storm of adversity, and a battle-cry when facing the impossible. The battle belongs to our God, and our God is victorious!”

7eventh Time Down News

“Just Say Jesus” and “God Is On The Move” hitmakers 7eventh Time Down return March 1 with Brand New Day, the band’s highly anticipated fourth BEC studio recording. It features 10 tracks and builds on the pop/rock melodies and emotive lyrics that have come to define the 7eventh Time Down sound.

Brand New Day features “The 99,” a joyful anthem inspired by Luke 15’s Parable of the Lost Sheep. The new single is slated for adds at Christian radio January 18 and will be available digitally January 25. Additional highlights of Brand New Day include the title-cut, an embrace of complete surrender in Christ; the synth-punctuated rally cry “I Have Decided”; and “Let Me Tell You,” which includes a modern nod to the gospel classic “There’s Something About That Name.”

Mystery Monday

Today Todd and I talked about something with an unsuspecting depth to it and that is names! It’s “Fun facts about names day”,  so we celebrated by sharing the meaning of our names and talking about names in general!

The meaning of Todd’s Name

The meaning of Hannah’s Name

The Power of God’s Names

We also talked with Joe Rinehart who is on the way to the NAIA basketball tournament to cheer on and report back the games with our MVNU Men’s Basketball Team, The Cougars! Click here if you want more information!

We played Mystery Box today, and because our item was a little abstract we jumped right into the touch test!

Todd had two questions to ask, here they are with the answers!

  1. Is this a piece of paper?  – yes!
  2. Is this paper blank? – No!

At this point, we asked for what was on the paper.

Congrats to Peter from Howard who guessed what was on the mystery box Paper, which was a list of names – our birthday list to be exact. He won that $5 Gift Card to Troyer’s of Apple Valley!

If you want to put your name on our birthday list or anniversary list, here is a link to the online form. You can also give us a call at (740) 397 – 9090 or (740) 397 – 9697 and ask to be put on the birthday or anniversary list!

Collegiate Prayer, Kindness and Comfort

Today is the Collegiate Day of Prayer around the United States – we would LOVE for you to join us in praying for students, faculty and staff here at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  Click here for more about it!

In our devotional “Time With God for Fathers,” by Jack Countryman, we’re looking at verses about kindness and comfort today.

A father, or parent for that matter, with a kind and tender heart can be a magnet to those he loves. Everyone craves love and encouragement. Kindness builds  confidence, security and trust for those around you.  We can reflect God’s kindness with those in our circle of family and mentorship.

Matthew 7:9-11…Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

The phrase “the God of all comfort” in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 is encouraging.  It helps us remember that God will always come to our aid – it is His promise for those who follow Christ. He will see us through the trials we are facing.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any [a]trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our [b]consolation also abounds through Christ.

Thanks for listening!
– Joe and Todd
