Praise Thursday

BEHIND THE SONG WITH KEVIN DAVIS, #744 -

Cameron and Christa talked today on the Afternoon Drive about the stories behind the songs Come Alive by Lauren Daigle and Stars by Skillet.

They also shared the word of the day: laconic (using or involving the use of a minimum of words : concise to the point of seeming rude or mysterious).

We also got a surprise call from Joe and Eddie! We heard about how things have going at NRB and some of the greatest take-aways!

Who Knew!

While Joe and Co. are still in Florida for the National Religious Broadcaster’s convention, Christa and Cameron held down the fort with “Who Knew Wednesday!”

They looked at famous people from Ohio focusing on people from the counties surrounding us. (That’s Paul Edward Lynde, above. He was on quite a few TV shows and in the original Bye, Bye Birdie! film. He was born in Mount Vernon!) If you want to see the whole list of people, you can find it HERE.

The word of the day today was “exponent” and it means: a symbol written above and to the right of a mathematical expression to indicate the operation of raising to a power OR: one that expounds or interprets OR: one that champions, practices, or exemplifies

Uplifting Tuesday

Thanks for the picture!

Cameron and Christa took over for Joe and Co. while they were down in Florida for the National Religious Broadcaster’s convention.

They talked about their pets, their bravest moments, and (of course) GAMES!!

Christa’s bravest moment was graduating from college: it was a culmination of many brave moments and some not so brave moments. Since she is usually really nervous about those “big moments”, it was a brave victory to just relax and enjoy the day!

Cameron’s bravest moment was when he took a trip to Maine, went up to a cliff and hung his feet over the edge with the water below.

Congrats to Scott from Mount Vernon who won tickets to the Lilies of the Field production this weekend, Ashley from Mount Vernon who won Song Poetry, and Gwin from Centerburg for correctly guessing Plumb and Need You Now for Name That Tune!

Mystery Monday is… Mysterious

Today Cameron and Christa took over for Joe and the gang who were out and about in Florida at the National Religious Broadcaster’s Convention.

They talked about the history of the word “clue” as well as some not-so-fashionable goats. They also shared the word of the day (bumbershoot) and Cameron discovered the mysterious item in the Mystery Box: a totally retro cassette tape!

Thanks to everyone who called in to play and give their requests for the All Request Drive Home!

Fingerprints of God: Our relationships with others

Hebrews 13:1 set the tone for today: “Keep on loving each other.”
Simple, or so you would think.

Writer Martha Orlando says: “Wouldn’t this world be a better place if we recognized and honored the fingerprints of God in every person we meet?”

We had 3 full pages of scripture today that talked about how we should treat one another, and a couple of great verses on this topic actually happen to be our theme verses for Lifeline! It’s John 13:34-35, and it says:
“A new command I give you, love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

We also read some verses from Romans 12 today, and the whole book of Romans is just a great book with lots of great wisdom.
Check out the entirety of Romans 12 here!

John 16:33 says: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
We listened to Victors Crown today, and it really gives encouragement that no matter what we’re going through that God has overcome the world and He wears the Victor’s Crown!
IMG_4862.jpgThat picture up there is a picture of my little beastie, Tula.
Our word of the day was beastie! This is a noun, and this word describes a small animal, especially one toward which affection is felt. So Tula is my beastie, and Belle is Joe’s beastie! Drop a picture of your little beastie in the comments! We’d love to see them!

Thank you so much for listening! Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Who Knew Wednesday

wednesday

Today Joe and I discussed Be Humble day!

We shared lots of scripture today on the show including:

  • Philippians  2:3-8 – “3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
  • Ephesians 4:2 -” Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
  • 1 Peter 5:5 -9 “In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

    “God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God

Our word of the day was “Humility” meaning – freedom from pride or arrogance.

“True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.”
    ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Game Time Tuesday

news-2

Today on the show Eddie and I did yet, another uplifting Tuesday!

Eddie shared a story about a dog, named Quincy, who deliverers his neighbors newspapers to their doors!

I did an devotion from my favorite devotional book “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. Today we shared about taking to God, constantly.

Congrats to Cheyenne from Mount Vernon who won “Song Poetry” with the song “Come alive (dry bones)” by Lauren Daigle and won the $5 gift card to Troyer’s of Apply Valley!

Also congrats are in order to Ben from Mount Vernon who won another $5 gift card to Troyer’s of Apple valley! He correctly guessed our “Name That Tune” song which was “Made to Love” by TobyMac

Our word of the day was Distaff! This word means, related through a mother, inherited or derived from that female parent or just female.

Sunny Mystery Monday

monday

Today the Mystery Box returned for a sunny February Mystery Monday, and because it was sunny out, our item in the box was Sun Glasses.  Lorna from Mount Vernon called in and correctly told us what the item was, and she won a 5$ gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley.
