Your goodness is running after me!

Today’s Monday Motivation song comes from a personal and MVNU favorite – Goodness of God!

We sang this one again today in our chapel service, as our voices joined singing, “All my life, you have been faithful. All my life you have been so, SO good! With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the GOODNESS OF GOD!”

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord. for He is good! For his mercy endures forever.” (I Chronicles 16:34)

Author Tim Elmore reminds us that one of the marks of maturity is that a mature person expresses gratitude constantly. So let’s belt this one out, whether we turn it up or sing it out!

We brought back last week’s stumper Kids’ question: What makes you healthy and strong?

  1. Eating vegetables (30 votes)
  2. Drinking your milk (27)
  3. Drinking water (20)
  4. Playing outside (14)
  5. A good night’s sleep (9)

Congratulations to Haley from Mount Vernon, who guessed correctly and wins TWO $5 gift cards to Watts Restaurant in Utica.

Thanks for listening!

It’s Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive, and we have plenty to praise about, but also much to pray for. With Hurricane Helene sweeping through the Southeast US, our thoughts and prayers are with every single person affected.

You can check out this article from Crosswalk.com that has 8 Prayers for the States Affected by the hurricane.

We know that God works through all storms, even the lows of life, as people’s testimonies show us. Check out this article from americamagazine.org for encouragement and real life examples of God working! https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2022/10/13/faith-stories-short-243950

Car Names? Yeah, we all do it

It’s Who Knew Wednesday on The Afternoon Drive! Who knew, it’s National Name Your Car day, and we asked YOU what you’ve named YOUR car(s). You didn’t disappoint!

Alyssa’s first car was a Dodge Caravan named Vicky Van Halen, and her current car is a red Dodge named Clifford The Big Red Dodge (wink wink).

Jim said his car is simply called ‘The Pumpkin’. We really hope it looks like one.

Paula says her car from the 60s was called Sammy Scouts, and her Mazda from the 70s was Mandy Mazda (nice alliteration).

For whatever reason, we love naming our cars…and we loved seeing these names!

Another stumper today! Make sure to tune in next Wednesday for a chance to win two $5 gift cards to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening!-Judah

We don’t fight alone!

Jon Reddick says Hebrews 12 was a big inspiration for his song, ‘Don’t Fight Alone.’ Reddick cites Hebrews 12:1: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”

Jon shared, “the marathon of faith is easier to endure when we know we have people cheering us on.” This includes our loved ones not just here on earth, but also those who have gone before us, who now call Heaven home!

Kids question: What makes you healthy and strong?

  1. Eating ??? (30 votes)
  2. Drinking ??? (27)
  3. Drinking ??? (20)

Looks like we’ve got a stumper for today!

Thanks for listening!

God Is Always With Us!

We’re one day closer to the weekend, so we’ve got plenty of reasons to praise! It’s Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive, so we had plenty to talk about!

We shared short testimonies, stories and reminders about trusting God in every circumstance. Even when adversity hits, we have to hold onto the fact that God alone is our hope and deliverer. When life feels like a puzzle we can’t solve, God is the one putting the pieces together.

We also shared Praise Reports and Prayer Requests for Global Week of Student Prayer. Jim Praises God for providing the help he and his wife needed to make their local food distribution efforts successful! We’re praying for families and individuals in need of help from these local pantries.

Follow NBA star and believer Jonathan Isaac for awesome content and words of encouragement: https://www.facebook.com/Jonathanisac01

For ‘Name That Tune’, our song was ‘I’m So Blessed’ by CAIN. Congratulations to Sarah from Mount Vernon, who guessed correctly and wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

History Lessons: Dove Awards Edition!

Hey there!

Today for Who Knew Wednesday on The Afternoon Drive, we took a trip back in time to the origins of the Dove Awards. The rich history of the Awards show goes back all the way, originally conceptualized by gospel singer-songwriter Bill Gaither. Plus, there some interesting standards back then that qualified a song to be considered ‘gospel’. Apparently, the only qualified music was that sold in Christian Booksellers Association affiliated stores. Nowadays, the standards have changed quite a bit.

I was born in Oakland, California on September 25, 1951

I’m a film star, as well as a critically acclaimed voice actor

I voiced DC supervillain The Joker in the popular “Batman: The Animated Series”

I got my big break playing Luke Skywalker in the famous film series, “Star Wars”

I am…Mark Hamill!

Congratulations to April from Mount Gilead for naming the right person! She wins a $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening! -Judah

The Dove Awards Are On The Way!

Forrest Frank: New Artist of the Year Nominee

Anne Wilson: Artist of the Year Nominee

CeCe Winans: Gospel Recorded Album of the Year Nominee

For King & Country: Artist of the Year Nominee

Brandon Lake: Worship Song of the Year Nominee

It’s also National Day of Student Prayer. In the 5 o’clock hour, we shared a praise from Donna, who praises God for helping us every day in all things! He is still healing and still doing miracles everyday!

We’re also lifting up the families of loved ones struggling with physical and mental health issues. We pray for God’s healing touch upon their lives.

It’s not just a story
It’s a livin’, breathin’, walkin’ testimony
Of a God so good, He’d leave his home in glory
For the world He loved, for the world that He so loved
He’s not just a story

Congratulations to Lydia from Mount Vernon, – she got the song right for Song Poetry – “I Believe It” by Jon Reddick. Lydia wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening!
