Praise Thursday – Fathers

With Father’s Day being this weekend, we talked all about fathers for Praise Thursday.

Joe shared a list that Tony Dungy put together, called “10 Ways to Be an All Pro Dad”. You can find that list here.

We also talked about the top TV dads. Joe said if he had to choose a TV dad to be his dad, he would choose either Charles Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie or John Walton from the Waltons, because they both remind him of his own dad. I would choose either Danny Tanner from Full House of Philip Banks from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. We shared a list of TV Guide’s “50 Greatest TV Dads of All TIme”. You can see the full list here.

Joe also shared the story of the prodigal son. You can read the whole thing here.

And of course, we couldn’t forget about our Take Dad to Dinner contest! Head over here and tell us why you love your dad and why you want to take him out to dinner for his chance to win. Registration ends at 11:59 pm TONIGHT, so make sure you register now!

Have a great end to your week and make sure you come see our Big Blue Crew on the Road at the Danville/Howard Turkey Festival!

Praise Thursday

Today was Praise Thursday, and I shared some devotionals from Our Daily Bread.

The first one I shared was “Image Consultants”, which talked about how we should place greater importance on inner transformation versus outer transformation. You can read the whole thing here.

I also shared on titled “We’re A Community”, where we are encouraged to use our gifts that God has given us to help others whenever we have an opportunity to do so. You can check out that one over here.

The last one I shared was “Tell Your Story”, which stressed the importance of telling others our stories and how God has worked in our lives. You can find that whole thing here.

Our word of the day was palaver, which is prolonged and idle discussion.

Thanks for listening and have a great end of your week!

Sing Something Nice

(This was supposed to post last Tuesday, but never did- so here it is. Oops!)

On today’s Afternoon Drive, we had a continuation of yesterday’s Say Something Nice Day, and decided to share some song titles that say something nice.

While many songs may say something nice, we stuck strictly to song titles that say something nice.

We looked through the WNZR song library and found a bunch of song titles that fit this theme:

God Gave Me You – Dave Barnes

God Is Watching Over You – Phil Joel

God Loves You – Rachael Lampa

Great Are You Lord – Philips, Craig and Dean

He Sends His Love – Point of Grace

I Will Be Your Friend – Michael W. Smith

I Will Be Here For You – Michael W. Smith

Jesus Loves You – Stellar Kart

Lean On Me – DC Talk

Thank You For Being My Friend – Kim Boyce

We Need Each Other – Sanctus Real

Wish You Were Here – Mark Harris

You Are Loved – Rebecca St. James

You Are So Good To Me – Third Day

You Will Never Walk Alone – Point of Grace

You’ll Never Be Alone – Capital Kings

Your Love Is Strong – Jon Foreman

We also looked at Billboard’s All Time Hot 100:

You Light Up My Life – Debby Boone

We Belong Together – Mariah Carey

I Do It For You – Bryan Adams

I Just Want To Be Your Everything – Andy Gibb

I Want To Hold Your Hand – The Beatles

I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

I Love You Just The Way You Are – Billy Joel

You’re Still The One – Shania Twain

Nothing Compares To You – Sinead

Waiting For A Girl Like You – Foreigner

Joe also let me share some of my favorite song titles from my teeny-bopper years that say something nice:

We’re All In This Together – High School Musical

Hello Beautiful – Jonas Brothers

Can you think of any other song titles that say something nice? Let us know which ones we may have missed down in the comments.

It was also Game Time Tuesday and we played Buzzword. Our Buzzword was “egg” and Faith from Mount Vernon was our winner.

We also played song poetry with lyrics from one of our songs that has a title that says something nice:

“Well, I don’t know why it doesn’t come easy, but I know that we could be happy, if we’d only learn to love”

Melissa from Mount Vernon correctly guessed that those lyrics belong to the Sanctus Real song, We Need Each Other.

Our word of the day was chivy, a verb that means to tease or annoy with persistent petty attacks, or to tell someone repeatedly to do something.

Have a terrific Tuesday evening!

World Oceans Day

On today’s Afternoon Drive, we talked about World Oceans Day, where we are supposed to celebrate and honor our world’s oceans. You can read more about World Oceans Day by clicking here!

It was Mystery Monday, and we asked a mystery question about snacks. Brad from Mt.Gilead correctly called in and answered that the two most popular snack foods in the USA are potato chips and chocolate. You can see where your favorite snack food ranks not only in the US, but globally over here!

Our word of the day was purfle, which means to ornament the border or edges of.

We also talked about the Danville/Howard Turkey Festival that is coming up. It will take place June 17th-20th at Danville’s Village Park. We also talked about Relay for Life, which will take place June 19th & 20th. Make sure to look for our Big Blue Crew as we go On The Road with Big Blue to these and many other events this summer!

Thanks for listening and have a fantastic week!
