Today’s Who Knew? tidbits include a famous (or infamous depending on your feelings) food combination and the birthday of one of baseball’s greatest sluggers.
CHICKEN AND WAFFLES
(from TheNationalDailyShow.com)
One of the South’s most famous food creations is chicken and waffles. But this delicious combination of flavors was actually born in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. During the 1940s, the Wells Supper Club was a popular late-night spot and attracted Jazz musicians after their gigs. They’d come in hungry, but found that they’d arrived too late for dinner, but too early for breakfast. In order to accommodate the musicians, the restaurant came up with the genius idea of serving a bit of both meals. Hence, fried chicken for dinner and waffles for breakfast.
Roscoe’s House of Chicken N’ Waffles in Southern California founded National Chicken and Waffles Day this year to highlight this delicious cuisine pairing and to dedicate the day as one of service and volunteerism. Check out Roscoe’s foundation website to see more ways to get involved and celebrate National Chicken and Waffles Day.

This past Friday, Chris Tomlin and Hillsong UNITED announced their upcoming joint tour for 2022! The “Tomlin UNITED” Tour will kick off in Greensboro, North Carolina on February 9th. The tour in all will reach 33 venues all across America before ending in Duluth, GA on April 13th.

Even four decades since beginning her career, Amy Grant has continued her very successful year by performing live for The Kelly Clarkson Show on NBC. The six time Grammy Winner sang her 90s track “Good For Me” on the show, a show which has been extremely popular lately as the highest rated talk show to debut in 7 years.
This, however, was just a glimpse at the kind of year Amy has had after being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame for the Class of 2021. She is also wrapping up her 42 city fall tour and preparing for the Christmas season where she will appear in several shows with Michael W. Smith. Today is a little different with Kelsi and Dylan in for this Monday Motivation.
Kelsi shared a devotional called “He Will Fight For You”. Our task still is to be prepared for life’s tough tests. To build a ministry, we study, work, and pray. To create beautiful art, we master a skill. To conquer a mountain, we secure our tools and build our strength. Then prepared, we’re more than conquerors through Christ’s strong love. Dylan shared a devotional called “Loving Others with Our Prayers”. God moves through our prayers to accomplish great good in the lives of His people. One of the best ways to love others is to pray for them, because through our prayers we open the door to the help only God can provide. When we pray for others, we love them in His strength. There’s none greater or more loving than him. to read the whole devotional click HERE.
