National Good Samaritan Day and Who Am I? Trivia.

Hi,

Today on the show I talked about how today is National Good Samaritan Day! I also talked about how Lifeline 2024 is quickly approaching. I also talked about how you can join our Lifeline 2024 prayer team. If you click on this link HERE it will take you right to the page where you can sign up for our Lifeline 2024 prayer team.

Who is your Good Samaritan? This is a question that all of us should be asked daily.

For me, my Good Samaritan is my family because they are always there for me no matter what. They stick by me when I mess up. They cheer me on when I succeed. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today!

  • I was born on March 14th, 1879, in Ulm, Germany.
  • I graduated from a federal polytechnic school in 1900, to teach mathematics and physics.
  • I was one of the key people that helped the U.S. get started on the Manhattan Project.
  • Throughout my lifetime, I published more that 300 scientific papers and 150 non-scientific papers.
  • I am known for developing the theory of relativity. As well as contributing to developing quantum mechanics.
  • I died on April 18th, 1955, at the age of 76.

Born for These Days

For today’s Praise Thursday, Joe shared a devotional centering around Jeremy Camp’s new song– These Days. God has you where you are, when you are, for a purpose. Check out the video below to hear Jeremy himself talk about the meaning behind the track!

We read the Our Daily Bread devotional for today, which paints a picture of God as a “fortified tower” and a place of refuge for us. Read it here!

Abby also shared Psalm 119:41-42—“Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise; then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word.” We are guaranteed to face opposition and even taunting in this world because of what we believe. Jesus had his critics, and we should prepare to face our own! We can do this by trusting our beliefs and handling those who oppose us with grace and love.

Just call it…sweet tooth day!

What is going on with today? It’s the birthday of the Oreo Cookie, National White Chocolate Cheesecake Day (who decided to get that specific?) and National Chocolate Chip Cookie WEEK. Just writing it makes my blood sugar spike 🙂 and since it’s also National Dentist’s Day, I’m TOTALLY confused!

Making its first appearance in 1912, the Oreo Cookie actually started out being called the Oreo Biscuit. Created and manufactured by the Nabisco (National Biscuit Company), the cookie was made from two crisp chocolate rounds filled with white cream. Starting out in Chelsea, New York City, the complex was located on Ninth Avenue, a street which eventually became “Oreo Way”.

Since that time, the Oreo has been the best-selling cookie in the United States for many years. People love to eat the Oreo in a variety of ways, whether dunking it into a cool glass of milk, twisting it and licking the cream out of the center or just taking a crunchy bite.

Today is ALSO, Hospitality Workers in HealthCare Day, which gives us the opportunity to pay our respects to the hospitality workers in the healthcare sector. These dedicated workers put in a lot of time and effort day-in and day-out. They have a lot of different critical roles, including providing laundry services in an efficient and timely manner, maintaining hygienic, fresh, and clean environments, meeting a range of cultural needs, dietary requirements, and preferences, and much more.

  • I was born March 6, 1940 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma
  • I made it to the Major Leagues in 1962 and played for the same team for 20 years
  • We won the World Series in 1971 and 1979

  • My nickname was ‘Pops’
  • I joined the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988

Lauren goes overseas; Chris embraces Irish!

Lauren Daigle announced yesterday that she will take her ‘Kaleidoscope Tour,’ abroad. This is Daigle’s first time playing in Europe since selling out a string of headline dates in 2019. She will headline performances at Gullbranna Festival in Sweden and Seaside Festival in Norway before the tour formally kicks off July 9 in Brussels and makes stops in Paris and Amsterdam before two shows in the UK – one in London and the other in Manchester, ending on July 15.

So what does an Irishman working and touring in the United States do to celebrate the start of March? Or what they call “St. Patrick’s Month?” Ask Chris Llewellyn of Rend Collective – he tried the Shamrock Shake, ordering with what he calls a ‘fake Irish accent’, and then described as, “light mint and heavy sugar.” He and the Rend team also toured a Target to look for green swag.
