Mystery Monday – 10/26

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive.

This week’s mystery question was a stumper. I told you about this article I found, which shows the most popular kid’s Halloween costume for each state, and asked for the most popular one in Ohio. The correct answer was Cinderella.

Mystery Monday – 10/19

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive!

Joe hid something in the Mystery Box, and after doing the hearing, smell, and touch tests, Sandy from Howard called in and correctly guessed that the item in the box was an emery board, or nail file.

We told you all about the Feel It, Film It contest, where you can enter to win 2 tickets to see TobyMac, Colton Dixon, Britt Nicole, and Hollyn. You can find all the details on that contest over here.

Our Word of the Day was germane, an adjective that means relevant to a subject under consideration. You can read more on that here.

The new film, Woodlawn, from the Erwin Brothers (October Baby, Mom’s Night Out) debuted on 1,553 screens this past weekend.  The true story of high school football in Birmingham, Alabama in 1973, grossed just over $4 million and was 9th at the box office. Woodlawn was 7th in average gross per screen.

Mystery Monday – 10/12

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive!

I had a Mystery Monday question, based on an article you can find here, where I asked what 2 items in your house you should clean every 6 months. Julie from Mount Vernon called in and correctly guessed the items are your mattress and oven.

Mystery Monday – 10/5

Today was Mystery Monday and we gave away a ton of prizes!

First, we had Mystery Box, and Linnette correctly called in and guessed that I had hidden a Slinky in the box.

Next, we had another round of Beating Hearts song Poetry with the lyrics Maybe today I’ll start believin’/That Your mercy really is/As real as You say it is/It doesn’t matter who I used to be/It only matters that I’ve been set free. Morri called in and correctly guessed that those lyrics belonged to Mandisa’s song Waiting For Tomorrow. Make sure to tune in to the Morning Thing and Afternoon Drive tomorrow and Wednesday for more chances to win tickets to the Beating Hearts Tour.

Mystery Monday – School Lunches

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive and we had a Mystery Question about school lunches.

A recent study (which you can find here) researched the amount of time students had to eat their school lunches, and how that impacted their food choices and the nutritional value they received. I asked you what the premium amount of time students needed to eat was, and Sarah from Lexington called in and correctly guessed 25 minutes.

Mystery Monday – War Room, Dating, and American Girl

Today’s Afternoon Drive was packed full of fun stuff!

First, we told you all about the Fredericktown Tomato Show, which will take place later this week. Head on over here for all the info.

We also told you the War Room went #1 in the box office for its second weekend! You can see the trailer and find out more information on the film over here.

Today was also Mystery Monday and we talked about a recent study on dating profiles. The study said 1/4th of men listed on their online dating profile that they would not a woman if she had ______, and we asked you to fill in the blank. Bobbi from Centerburg called in and correctly guessed that the answer was multiple cats.

We also recapped a story the Morning Thing did earlier today about Luna Moreland, a local young woman who is in the running to star in the newest American Girl Movie. You can vote for Luna by clicking here. You do have to create an account, but it’s free and takes approximately 3 seconds. The deadline to vote is noon tomorrow (Tuesday 9/8).

Our Word of the Day was tweep, a noun which simply means a person who uses Twitter. You can read more on that here.

Mystery Monday – 8/31

Today was the last Mystery Monday for the month of August!

I hid something in the Mystery Box for Joe to try and figure out what it was, and Bill from Fredericktown called in and correctly guessed that the item was a pine cone.

We told you about First Friday happening this upcoming Friday night from 6 pm-9 pm. Big Blue will be in a different spot – in front of the Buchwald Center. Our Big Blue Crew will also be selling hot dogs as a fundraiser for various conference trips.

Also during the show, we received the great news that the film War Room will be coming to Mount Vernon this weekend. You can find out more about that movie over here, and we’ll give you the complete list of showtimes later in the week.

Back to School Mystery Monday

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive and we had a back to school themed Mystery Monday question.

A recent study, which you can find over here, listed the top 3 topics that kids talk to their parents about before going back to school. We told you that bullying was one topic and asked you to name the other two.

We recapped the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival and our awesome photo booth we had there yesterday. You can check out all the pictures from the photo booth and the rest of the festival here.
