I had a Mystery Monday question, based on an article you can find here, where I asked what 2 items in your house you should clean every 6 months. Julie from Mount Vernon called in and correctly guessed the items are your mattress and oven.

I also told you all the details on our “Feel It, Film It” contest where you can win tickets to see TobyMac later this month in Columbus! You can find out everything you need to know on that over here.

Our Word of the Day was olfactory, an adjective meaning of or related to the sense of smell. You can read more on that here.

Mystery Monday – School Lunches

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive and we had a Mystery Question about school lunches.

A recent study (which you can find here) researched the amount of time students had to eat their school lunches, and how that impacted their food choices and the nutritional value they received. I asked you what the premium amount of time students needed to eat was, and Sarah from Lexington called in and correctly guessed 25 minutes.

I recapped the Fredericktown Tomato Show and told you all about the pictures from the 4 days of the Tomato Show, which you can find here.

Our Word of the Day was vaunted, an adjective meaning described as good or great, or often praised. You can read more on that here.

Have an awesome week!

Mystery Monday – War Room, Dating, and American Girl

Today’s Afternoon Drive was packed full of fun stuff!

First, we told you all about the Fredericktown Tomato Show, which will take place later this week. Head on over here for all the info.

We also told you the War Room went #1 in the box office for its second weekend! You can see the trailer and find out more information on the film over here.

Today was also Mystery Monday and we talked about a recent study on dating profiles. The study said 1/4th of men listed on their online dating profile that they would not a woman if she had ______, and we asked you to fill in the blank. Bobbi from Centerburg called in and correctly guessed that the answer was multiple cats.

We also recapped a story the Morning Thing did earlier today about Luna Moreland, a local young woman who is in the running to star in the newest American Girl Movie. You can vote for Luna by clicking here. You do have to create an account, but it’s free and takes approximately 3 seconds. The deadline to vote is noon tomorrow (Tuesday 9/8).

Our Word of the Day was tweep, a noun which simply means a person who uses Twitter. You can read more on that here.

Back to School Mystery Monday

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive and we had a back to school themed Mystery Monday question.

A recent study, which you can find over here, listed the top 3 topics that kids talk to their parents about before going back to school. We told you that bullying was one topic and asked you to name the other two.

We recapped the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival and our awesome photo booth we had there yesterday. You can check out all the pictures from the photo booth and the rest of the festival here.

Mystery Monday – Fairs, Food, and Chris Tomlin

Today was the first day almost back to normal for the Afternoon Drive.

We were On The Road at the Knox County Fair all last week and you can see all the pictures and videos from that over here on our Facebook page.

It was also Mystery Monday, and since Joe Rinehart was On The Road with Big Blue and the rest of our crew at the Ohio State Fair in preparation for the Chris Tomlin concert, I decided to have an Ohio State fair themed Mystery Monday question.

I asked what the most popular fair food is at the Ohio State Fair and, after receiving around 30 guesses from corn dogs to saltwater taffy, I finally got a call from Rosana from Butler correctly guessing deep fried buckeyes.

Our Word of the Day was leitmotif, a noun meaning a dominant recurring theme. You can read more on that here.

Have a great week!

Mystery Monday – Cereal, NYC, and Tenth Avenue North

cereal_cartoon_eyes1Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive!

I had a Mystery Question from an I article I read on a study from Cornell University on the psychology of cereal boxes. You can read the full article over here. I asked what one thing on a cereal box increases brand trust by 16%.

After receiving multiple guesses in the first few minutes, including box tops, a note that the cereal contained a certain vitamin, that it was made with whole grain or less sugar, cartoons being on the box, or there being a mascot, Sam from Shreve called in and correctly answered that eye contact from the cereal box’s mascot is what increases brand trust by 16%. I highly recommend checking out that study I linked above, because it has a lot of other interesting information.

I also told you about how our Big Blue Crew went on the road to Louisville, Kentucky for the Nazarene Youth Conference last week and this past weekend. I also told you about all the awesome videos they put together that you definitely want to check out. Here are the links:

Mystery Name Monday

Today was Mystery Monday and we talked all about names.

We found the Social Security Administration’s list of the top 100 girl and boy names over the past 100 years, so for our mystery question, we asked for the top male name and the top female name. Erin from Howard correctly guessed that the names were James and Mary. You can see the full list here.

We also played with a fun name generator we found from Time Magazine, where you enter your name, birth year, and gender to find out what your name would be if you were born today. Joe’s first and middle names, Joseph Dale, would be Matthew Carson, and mine, Jessica Paige, would be Emma Alexa. To find out what your name would be, just click here! (Warning- it’s kind of addicting!)

Our word of the day was sempiternal, an adjective meaning of never-ending duration or everlasting.

Have a great week!
