Budding Mystery Box…

mysteryboxsept19

Today’s Mystery Box item ended up being Eddie’s ear buds…congratulations to Dan from Howard for helping me figure it out!

We also gave away our first pair of tickets to SonFest 2016, THIS Saturday at MVNU. Congratulations to Scott of Mount Vernon – he was our first winner. We’ll be doing this all week during the All-Request Drive Home. Tomorrow it’s SonFest artist trivia.

Our Word of the Day today is stentorian, an adjective meaning a loud and powerful voice!

Thanks for listening!

Game Time Tuesday – 9/22

Today was Game Time Tuesday on the Afternoon Drive!

I gave you a lot of information on SonFest 2015, and you can find everything you need to know here.

Then we had today’s edition of “Where In The World Is Colton Dixon?”, and Damika from Frazeysburg called in and correctly guessed he was at Southside Diner!

We also had a stumper for Song Poetry with these lyrics:

Don’t be ashamed of your past
If you’re shattered like a piece of glass
The more broke you are the more the light gets through

The Word of the Day was aphelion, a noun meaning the point at which a planet, comet, or asteroid is furthest from the sun. You can read more on that here.

Have a terrific Tuesday evening!

Who Knew Today Was Play-Doh Day?!

Today was both National Play-Doh Day and Who Knew Wednesday, so play-doh-4-packI combined the two and talked all about Play-Doh on the show!

First, I gave you a little information on Play-Doh Day, which you can find here.

I shared a lot of fun facts about the childhood favorite toy, and you can find all of that here and here.

I also found this awesome page on the Hasbro website where you it shows you step-by-step directions on how to create Play-Doh masterpieces. Click here to find all 214 different creations and directions.

Our Word of the Day was velar, an adjective which describes the sound produced when the back of your tongue touches the soft palette. You can read more on that here.

I also gave you some information on SonFest 2015, and you can find everything you’ll need to know here.

Have an awesome Wednesday evening!

Praise Thursday – July 16th

Today was Praise Thursday on the Afternoon Drive!

I shared some devotionals from an awesome ministry called Our Daily Bread. You can check out their website over here for tons of daily devotionals.

The first devotional I shared was titled Ordinary People, and it was all about how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary work for His Kingdom. You can check out that devotional here and the verse that goes with it over here.

Next, I shared Seeing Beyond Loss, which was about looking to God instead of dwelling on disappointment or sadness. You can read the whole thing here. You can see the verses that go with this over here.

Lastly, I shared one that I think is VERY important to today’s society, and it’s called Web Wisdom. This devotional is all about asking for God’s wisdom and guidance before you comment something rude and condescending, or post something you know you probably shouldn’t. The whole devotional won’t be online until August, but you can find the verses that go with it here.

I told you about SonFest 2015, which will take place on Saturday, September 26th on the campus of MVNU. Tickets are on sale now, and you can find out how to get those and more information on SonFest over here.

Plus, I let you know that Michael W. Smith will be coming to Columbus this fall. He will be at Grove City Church of the Nazarene on Monday, September 28th at 7:00 pm. You can find out all the information on that over here.

Our Word of the Day was celerity, a noun meaning rapidity of motion or action, or swiftness. You can read more on that over here.

Also, don’t forget to check out all the videos our Big Blue Crew put together at the Nazarene Youth Conference in Louisville, Kentucky last week. There are 6 different videos and they are all so cool! You can find them all below: (just click on each title to watch that particular video)

Summer Concert Mania!

Who knew there were so many concerts and musical festivals this summer?!

For this week’s Who Knew Wednesday, we gave you all the information on the different summer concerts and festivals featuring some of your favorite artists.

The first festival we talked about was the 28th annual Alive Festival, which will take place June 17th – 20th at Atwood Lake Park in Mineral City, Ohio. There are going to be over 70 different artists and speakers, including TobyMac, Skillet, Lecrae, Jeremy Camp, NEEDTOBREATHE, Tenth Avenue North, For King & Country, Meredith Andrews, Colton Dixon, and MANY others! You can see the complete lineup, ticket information, and everything else you need to know about the Alive Festival here!

We also talked about the Creation Festival Northeast. This festival is June 24th – 27th at the Agape Farm in Mt. Union, Pennsylvania- perfect for a fun, mini-road trip! This festival also has an incredible lineup, with headliners TobyMac, Switchfoot, Skillet, and Lecrae! There will also be performances from Colton Dixon, Blanca, Natalie Grant, Matthew West, and many more of your favorite artists. For all the details on that festival, click here!

Another festival that starts just one day later than Creation Northeast is SpiritSong, which combines two awesome things – concerts and roller coasters! This festival takes place June 25th – 27th at Kings Island Amusement Park in Mason and, like the previously mentioned festivals, has an AWESOME lineup! You can catch Newsboys, Kari Jobe, For King & Country, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Colton Dixon, Sidewalk Prophets, Tenth Avenue North, Love & the Outcome, and more! For the complete SpiritSong schedule and information on tickets, click here!

And the last festival we talked about is Creation Ichthus, which will take place July 8th – 11th in Lexington, Kentucky. At this festival, you’ll be able to see performances from Newsboys, Matthew West, Relient K, Natalie Grant, Colton Dixon, 7eventh Time Down, Rhett Walker Band, and many others. For more information on Ichthus, head over here!

If you don’t want to attend an entire festival, but still want to catch some live music this summer, we highlighted a couple concerts you can see.

If you’re a fan of Rend Collective, they’ll be at Grove City United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 28th. You can check out all the information on that concert here.

You can also check out Christ Tomlin at the Ohio State Fair on Monday, August 3rd. The concert starts at 7pm and you can get all the information on that over here!

And, even though it isn’t happening until September 26th, we gave some information on SonFest 2015! The first three artists who have been announced are Colton Dixon, Leeland, and I Am They. More artists will be added to the lineup soon, and we’ll tell you as soon as they’re announced. Tickets will go on sale soon and you can head over here to find out how to get those and for all the other information on SonFest 2015.

Our word of the day was Yooper, which is a native or resident of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. (I like to imagine there’s a superhero who lives on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan who is named that Super Yooper)

Joe was also excited about his Soda Pop Shoppe Jelly Belly jelly beans. We tried all the different flavors – Orange and Grape Crush, A&W Root Beer and Cream Soda, 7-Up, and Dr. Pepper. If you could create any flavor of jelly bean, what would it be?

Have a great evening and thanks for listening!
