Game Time Tuesday!

Good Tuesday afternoon!
The Ohio State Fair has released the performing artists for the 2017 fair!
This year For King and County will be there, and Zach Williams will be there also! If you’d like more information about the fair and these concerts, click here!

Uplifting Tuesday today had it’s roots at the end of WWII.
“An Auschwitz survivor and the Scottish commando who saved her celebrated their 71st Valentine’s Day together this week. John Mackay, 96, helped liberate a number of prisoners from the concentration camp—including Hungarian Jew Edith Steiner, now 92. The two met at a village dance to celebrate the prisoners’ liberation and have been together ever since. They married in 1946 and eventually settled in Dundee, Scotland—where, this year, the couple rang in Feb. 14 at a party in their senior citizens’ home. “It’s lovely to have such a real example of true love with us,” said one staff member.”

We also had another Uplifting Tuesday story, and this one was cookie related!
“After a Girl Scout selling cookies was robbed at gunpoint, California cops reached into their own pockets to make things right. Harshita Phardwaj, 12, and her mom were running a cookie stand outside a Union City supermarket when a man threatened them with a gun and stole all their cash. Local police are still looking for the culprit, but decided to help Phardwaj’s fundraising drive by buying all of her remaining cartons of Samoas, Thin Mints, and other Girl Scout Cookies — donating $1,000 in total. “We did what we could to make it loving, compassionate, and healing,” says Officer Lisa Gratez.”

Our lyrics for song poetry today were:
“Then like a hero who takes the stage when
We’re on the edge of our seats saying it’s too late”
This song is MercyMe’s ‘Flawless’!

And our Name That Tune today was Mighty to Save from Laura Story!

Congrats to Darcy of Howard who guessed our Song Poetry correctly, and to Landis of Belleville who won our ‘Name that Tune’ today!
They will both be receiving a $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley!

Our word of the day today is ‘Cabotage‘ (noun *  KAB-uh-tahzh)
This means “trade or transport in coastal waters or airspace or between two points within a country.” To learn more about this word, check it out here!

Thanks for listening!
Have a great rest of your day!

Game Time Tuesday!

Good Afternoon! I hope you’re having a great Tuesday afternoon! 2017 is getting into full swing and Eddie and I had an awesome show for you today!

RESOLUTIONS…
We talked a little bit about New Year’s resolutions today on the show, and Eddie talked about his resolution. He said that his goal this year is to have ‘delayed gratification’ and by that he meant that he would get things done that aren’t incredibly exciting with a good attitude that will lead to happiness later. This was quite the profound resolution! Hopefully, everyone here at WNZR sticks to their resolutions this year! To hear about Professor Rinehart and my resolutions, check out the blog from the show yesterday here.

WINTERJAM TOUR SPECTACULAR…
What’s the new year without Winter Jam, right? The WinterJam Tour Spectacular is coming to Ohio three times!
Saturday, January 21st – at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus
Saturday, February 18th – at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati Sunday,

GAME TIME TUESDAY!
The song poetry for today was ‘Fix My Eyes‘ from For King and Country!
Eddie gave us these lyrics…
“Here’s what I’d do differently,
I’d love like I’m not scared
Give when it’s not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother.”
Congratulations to our winner, Faith from Mt. Vernon!

Our Name that Tune for today was a stumper!!! It will return next week!
Be listening for your chance to win a $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley!

WORD OF THE DAY…
Our word of the day today was ‘ennui’ which is an old French word  thar made its’ way onto the scene around 1660-1670.
Ennui is a feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom.

Okay, I get that we like hot dogs in this country, but this statistic is a bit staggering…USA Today reports that Americans eat about 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  That’s 818 hot dogs eaten EVERY SECOND. Eddie says blame it on those hot dog eating contests.

We also shared information about our 2016 version of ‘Take Dad to Dinner.’ Click here to find out more about nominating your dad to win dinner and a DVD!

Song Poetry today was from Danny Gokey’s ‘Tell Your Heart to Beat Again.’ Congratulations to Brenda from Mount Vernon for winning the $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley and the Pier House Coffee Shop. Name that Tune was a clip from Phil Wickham’s ‘Your Love Amazes Me,’ and Andrew of Big Prairie, OH won the certificate.

/ Is this how we’re really meant to live? Brendan from Gambier called in and correctly guessed that those lyrics belong to Natalie Grant’s song Be One.

Heather from Centerburg was our winner for Name That Tune, correctly answering that the clip we played was from Fix My Eyes by For King & Country.

Both Heather and Brendan picked up a $5 gift certificate to Pier House Coffee Shop in Troyer’s of Apple Valley.
