“I put it on vinyl.” – Lauren Daigle

On a special Throwback edition of Who Knew Wednesday we talked about old music mediums, including cassette tapes, a-tracks, and even records. Inspired mainly by that quote from Lauren Daigle’s new song ‘Still Rolling Stones’ where she says, “I put it on vinyl.”

We also shared some more Who Knew Tips from the Who Knew Book.

Here’s the tips:

To help relieve the itching rash caused by poison ivy, soak the affected area in a strong salt bath. Make sure the water is warm to fully get the itch out.

Believe it or not, you can help relieve arthritis pain with oatmeal. Just mix 2 cups oatmeal with 1 cup water, warm the mixture in the microwave, and apply to the affected area.

Nothing’s worse than a bad bout of nausea. Try this simple trick to help relieve your discomfort: Drink a little ginger ale, then chew a handful of crushed ice, and finally sniff a piece of black-and-white newspaper. It may seem like an old wives’ tale, but it works!

Praise Thursday: A Teachable Leader Will Never Stop Growing & A Leaders Strength Is On Their Knees

Todd and I started off the show today by reminding you that WinterJam is coming up!

Here are today’s

A Teachable Leader Will Never Stop Growing

“Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge. The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, but the Folly of fools is deceit. Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor.”  – Proverbs 14: 7-9

How long did it take you to realize you do not know everything? When you come to the realization that there is still much for you to learn, you open the door to becoming a lifelong learner. In your Christian Life, God reveals himself when you surrender to his word and the leading of his Spirit. Romans 12:2 encourages you to ” not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  God does not simply want you to try harder or sin less, but also to depend on his spirit and allow yourself to be transformed into someone who loves to through willing obedience. That transformation begins when you choose to become a lifelong learner of God’s word.

A Leader’s Strength is on Their Knees

“Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. ” Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer is a very real part of your relationship with God. It is not just for the special, the religious Elite; it is for you. Throughout the Bible, God promises to speak to you when you humble yourself and listen for His voice. To listen actively, you must come before the Lord expectantly. You must eagerly anticipate him speaking to you. Get into the habit of beginning each day with God in prayer; let His Spirit open your heart and mind to his perfect will. He promises to ” show you Great and Mighty things, but you do not know.”

Praise Thursday: A leaders prayer changes everything & The God connection for leaders

A leader’s prayer changes everything

James 5:16 (NIV) –  “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

It’s often been said that prayer is like the breath of life, you can’t exist spiritually without it. It also offers a potent connection with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. God has designed this world in such a way that many of our needs are met only through interdependence on fellow believers and our singular dependence on God. When a leader earnestly comes to God in prayer for wisdom and direction, he will be blessed and God will be glorified.

The God connection for leaders

John 15:7-8 (NIV) –  “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

The only way you can play a significant role in the kingdom of God is if you allow Him to live through you, or abide in you. It clearly says in John 15:5 that without Him you can do nothing, with him you can do anything. You can live out a godly life as an example to those you lead. You can also lead those around you how to love the Lord and each other. Jesus calls you to produce much fruit. To do that, you need only pray often and be in the word.
