Lauren goes overseas; Chris embraces Irish!

Lauren Daigle announced yesterday that she will take her ‘Kaleidoscope Tour,’ abroad. This is Daigle’s first time playing in Europe since selling out a string of headline dates in 2019. She will headline performances at Gullbranna Festival in Sweden and Seaside Festival in Norway before the tour formally kicks off July 9 in Brussels and makes stops in Paris and Amsterdam before two shows in the UK – one in London and the other in Manchester, ending on July 15.

Lauren also announced new US dates, too. Find the full story from JesusFreakHideout.com and PFA Media by clicking here!

So what does an Irishman working and touring in the United States do to celebrate the start of March? Or what they call “St. Patrick’s Month?” Ask Chris Llewellyn of Rend Collective – he tried the Shamrock Shake, ordering with what he calls a ‘fake Irish accent’, and then described as, “light mint and heavy sugar.” He and the Rend team also toured a Target to look for green swag. You can follow Rend Collective and/or Chris on Instagram to see the full video. @rendcollective

The King of My Heart

One of things I’ve really focused on this semester at MVNU in my work and my personal life is returning to something I read about years ago, asking us an important question: Who (or what) is on the throne of your heart?

A couple of verses that stand out:

Matthew 6:21: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I Peter 3:20: But in your hearts, revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

Revelation 3:20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Whoever sits on the throne of your heart is who you worship and serve; and if we aren’t careful, depending on who we serve (who or what we make an idol) can influence our thoughts with toxicity and lies. Scripture tells us where our treasure is, that is also where our heart is. What do you hold near and dear to you? Who do we depend on? That is what you have made the king of your heart. Who you’ve put on the throne. This song is a declaration to recommit to having Christ be the King of your Heart!

“I See Grace” by Micah Tyler – congratulations to Jan from Apple Valley, who wins the $5 gift card to Watts Restaurant in Utica.

By Faith, Not Works

Mike talked about Ephesians 2:8-9, which says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” These verses are an encouragement to not concern ourselves with the things we can do to earn God’s grace, but to accept his salvation for us as it is freely given. In the end, there is only one person who can boast perfection– Jesus Christ. It’s such a relief that we don’t have to hold ourselves to that standard!

Abby shared one of her favorite passages, Mark 10:13-16“And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.’ And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.” Jesus is encouraging us to become like children– to humble ourselves in our faith and live in childlike awe for what he has in store. What a beautiful image, that Jesus takes us into his arms and blesses us!

Shout out to Ron for correctly guessing today’s name that tune– Fake It by Tauren Wells.

Thanks for listening!
