Today we debuted Jordan Feliz’s new song Never Too Far Gone.  This is a song from his album, The River.  We also have new music from Phil Wickham.  His new song, Your Love Awakens Me is from his brand new Children of God album.

Today’s Word of the Day is woodnote.  Woodnote is a noun which means, a wild or natural musical tone, as that of a forest bird.

Let’s tell some stories!

Today is the last show Jess and I will do together! We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work for an amazing station and it’s even better to work with friends!

It’s Who Knew Wednesday on the Afternoon Drive and today is Tell A Story Day!  Jess and I shared some stories about ourselves.  Why is Today dedicated to telling stories? Well daysoftheyear.com tells us why.

Tell a Story Day is celebrated in the United States, Scotland and the United Kingdom. The aim of the day to get participants telling, sharing and listening to each others stories. It is a celebration of the art of oral storytelling in all of its many forms, whether it be fiction or non-fiction, a tall tale, or folklore. The stories may be told from memory or from a book. Events can be held in community centres, churches, homes and gardens, hospitals, libraries, schools or more unusual venues!

The origin of the day is unknown, but there is surely a story to tell about it – maybe you can make one up for the next Tell a Story Day!

Share a story with your friends and family! Remissness on the memories you made together!   It will be fun to look back and remember all the great things you’ve done with those you love!

Don’t forget the WORD OF THE DAY! Today’s word is alfresco. It is an adverb that means, out-of-doors; the open air; outdoor.

Game Time Tuesday – 4/26

Today was Game Time Tuesday on the Afternoon Drive!

We played song poetry using these lyrics: Stay where it’s safer / claim faith but waiver
/ Is this how we’re really meant to live? Brendan from Gambier called in and correctly guessed that those lyrics belong to Natalie Grant’s song Be One.

Heather from Centerburg was our winner for Name That Tune, correctly answering that the clip we played was from Fix My Eyes by For King & Country.

Both Heather and Brendan picked up a $5 gift certificate to Pier House Coffee Shop in Troyer’s of Apple Valley.

Mystery Monday minus 108 years!

Today’s Mystery Monday trivia question was from 1908, the last year that Eddie’s favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs, won the World Series.

Our three questions and answers:

  • who did the Cubs beat in the World Series that year?  The Detroit Tigers
  • who was elected US President three weeks later? William Howard Taft
  • where were the summer Olympics held that year? London

Who knew about allergies?

It’s that time the year when the sniffle and sneezes happen.  Spring allergies have arrived! This is the time we start asking ourselves, Why? How? What?  Who Knew Wednesday was all about allergies on the Afternoon Drive!

WebMD says, “The biggest spring allergy trigger is pollen — tiny grains released into the air by trees, grasses, and weeds for the purpose of fertilizing other plants. When pollen grains get into the nose of someone who’s allergic, they send the immune system into overdrive.”

Game Time and Road Trip Tuesday

Today I stayed in-house giving you a chance to win with Game Time Tuesday while Jess traveled with the WNZR crew (Marcy, Jenna, Rachel, Emily and Cameron) to see ‘This Is Winter Jam,’ a one-night movie simulcast event.

Today’s song poetry was from Hollyn’s song ‘Alone,’ while Name That Tune was from Chris Tomlin’s ‘Forever.’ Congratulations to Damika and Kendrick, who both won $5 gift certificates from Troyer’s of Apple Valley and the Pier House Coffee Shop!

Today’s Word of the Day was KOINE (koy-NAY), which is a noun meaning the Greek language commonly spoken and written in eastern Mediterranean countries in the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Our word of the day today…well…I would call them hiking boots.  But WAFFLESTOMPERS refer to high ankle boots with ridged soles, used for hiking.  Apparently this is an Americanism from the 1970’s.
