On this very hot Praise Thursday we shared some uplifting devotionals from Our Daily Bread! Our first devotion is called “Failed Again”. In Galatians 3 it’s said that God continually supplies us with His Spirit and works powerfully through us as a free gift—not because we’ve done anything or deserve it. You don’t have to work for His grace—it’s free. To read more click HERE. In our second devotion called “Death Zone” we talked about being humble. If we’ve achieved some success, we may appropriately celebrate the accomplishment and accept congratulations, but we must keep moving. We’re in the death zone. Come down the mountain. Humbly serve others in the valley—asking God to guard your heart and your steps. To read the full devotional click HERE.
Q: What book of the Bible contains the Fruit of the Spirit?

Today for Artist News Day Game Time Tuesday we had some amazing stories. Lauren Daigle just released a new song, “Tremble”, but even though the song is new to us it isn’t new to her. “I’ve been performing “Tremble” for a few years now, holding on until the right moment to share it with everyone” says Daigle. It shows great patience for her to wait and we are so excited to see how it does! To read the full story click HERE. Anne Wilson also just released some new music last Friday on the 6th. Her EP, My Jesus (Live In Nashville), features five songs recorded live from White Dove Barn in Nashville including a new song “No Place Like Home.” which is super cool! Here’s “No Place Like Home”!
Are you past the point of weary? Is your burden weighing heavy? Is it all too much to carry?
This weeks lyrics were a stumper so we will bring it back next week!

Today is Praise Thursday! We read two devotions today from Our Daily Bread. Our first one was called “Seeking God’s Help” by Amy Boucher Pye. God rescued His people from the invading armies, and He hears us when we cry out to Him in distress. Whatever your concern—whether a relationship issue or something threatening from the natural world—lift it to God in prayer. Nothing is too hard for Him. To read more click HERE. Our second devotion was called “In the Vine” also by Amy Boucher Pye. When we who believe in Jesus embrace the idea of being as close to Him as a branch is to a vine, our faith is strengthened and enriched. Click HERE to read more!
Q: When David wanted to fight Goliath, what did Saul try to give him?

Congratulations to Letha of Mount Vernon for answering that question correctly, she won a $5 gift card to Everlasting Cup!
August First Friday is just around the corner and we are excited to be hosting the main event for this month – the “Dog Days of Summer” Dog Parade! First Friday will run from 6-9pm, but registration for the dog parade is on-site only in Downtown Mount Vernon from 6:30-7:15.
We have all heard the phrase “Dog Days of Summer”, but what does that actually MEAN?
Sure, this time of year is typically the hottest it gets, but that is not the origin of the phrase. This saying is actually derived from astrology and this time of year celebrates when Sirius – known as the “Dog Star” rises to its most noticeable point. So next time you are out stargazing, keep an eye out for the Sirius star because it’ll only be prominent until roughly August 11th.
You can read Scott Smith’s article that we referred to during the show here!
