Mystery Monday

Mystery Monday

Today, Joe, Malisa and I had lots of fun with our mystery question!

Here was today’s question:

“100 people were surveyed, and we want you to give the top two answers to this question… “Name an animal, other than a bull, that you wouldn’t want in a china shop.”

With our top two answers being: Elephant (47 answers) and cow (20)

followed by horse (10), bear (8), hippo (4), rhino (4), and moose (3).

After a ton of guesses, we got a winner! Congrats to Mia from Mount Vernon who got our question correct and won that $5 gift card to Troyer’s of Apple Valley!

We also gave away two tickets to Annie Jr. to Stacey from Fredericktown. Congratulations Stacey! If you want to know more about the Annie productions by MTVarts, click HERE.

Did you hear that Lauren Daigle has a new album called “Look up Child” that just came out yesterday? Click HERE for more information!

Mystery Monday

Today, me, Malisa and Joe, changed some things up a little bit on mystery Monday! We have decided that we are going to do a mystery question for the first 3 weeks of the month and then, on the last Monday of the month,  do our mystery box show!

Our Mystery Question today was: 100 people were surveyed, and we want you to give the top two answer to this question… “Name a plant people might grow themselves.”

Answer: Tomatoes (33) and the flowers/roses (31)

Followed apples (14), zucchini (7), plums (7).

Congratulation to Abigail from Mount Vernon for guessing the correct top two answers to our mystery questions! She won a $5 gift card to Troyer’s of Apple Vally.

We also gave away two tickets to one of the Annie productions by MTVarts! Congrats to Karolyn from Gambier who was our caller number 5. If you want more information about this production click HERE.

Mystery Monday

Today Joe and I played Mystery Box! We only got to technically do two ‘senses’ tests. This is because when we tried the smell test, our item wasn’t as smelly as expected! But we were able to complete both the shake test and the taste test!

Our Mystery Box item today was a disposable dental floss pick!

Congrats to Jennifer from Fredericktown who guessed our item and won a $5 gift card to Troyers of Apple Valley!

Do you want to win 4 Sonfest tickets? Do you like to spend time with your family and friends while having a ton of fun? Well, so do we! That’s why we came up with a NEW contest this year! It’s called “The WNZR Sonfest Sync It Contest”. If you would like to know more,  you can click HERE.

Thanks for listening to the Afternoon Drive!

Our new co-host arrives…

Today we welcomed our new co-host Todd McKinley to the Afternoon Drive!

Todd just finished his freshman year at MVNU.  He’s a journalism and media production major from Fredericktown.  Todd enjoys traveling and speaking Spanish – and he’s the oldest of eight McKinley children.  His siblings are Marshall, Maria, Jeremiah, Cammy, Mindy, Josephine and Phoenix.

Lilly and I also shared our adventure from the Danville Middle School Career Day – we set up a TV studio in the classroom. Here are some pictures:

Special thanks to Jenna Potts, Rachel Rinehart and Lilly for helping today and to Carissa Bush for being our awesome host teacher!

Our Mystery Monday question was: can you name three of Todd’s siblings?

Congratulations to Melissa from Fredericktown who wins the $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley – she named Marshall, Maria and Jeremiah.

Mystery Monday & Mission Trip!

Today Malisa hid dried fruit in the Mystery Box!  I love dried fruit…apricots, apples, prunes, mango, etc…and it’s GOOD FOR YOU!

Congratulations to Phyllis of Danville who wins the $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley.

Malisa also shared some of her experiences from her mission trip to Indianapolis, where she worked with Burmese refugees. What will she take away from this experience?  IN her words, “Humans are humans, and sometimes we have to look beyond politics, open our hearts and love all people.”

The Mystery of the Cheese Doodle

Maybe it should be called “orange fingers day,” but we celebrate the cheesy, poofy, crunchy snack today.

The National Day Calendar shares this information:

“The actual inventor of Cheese Doodles is under debate. Generally, the credit goes to a man named Morrie Yohai who made a variety of extruded snack foods in the 1940s for his family’s company called Old London Foods. Other sources show patents for similar products in the 1930s and still other competing accounts in Wisconsin and in New Orleans as well.”

Frito-Lay says it produces Cheetos in 22 countries and there are 50 different flavors! They include Fizzy Pepsi Cheetos in Japan, Japanese Steak in China, Ketchup Cheetos in Poland and Strawberry Cheetos in Russia.

Today’s Mystery Question: How many cows does it take to make a year’s worth of Cheetos?

The answer, according to Frito-Lay’s communications office, is 5,000! A year-long production run requires 11 million gallons of milk, or 10 million pounds of cheddar cheese used in the Cheetos seasoning. WHOA.

Congratulations to Daniel of Mount Vernon, who wins the $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley!

Thanks for listening!
