Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone!

Life throws a lot at us, and a lot of it is unexpected…which means we have to sometimes get a little uncomfortable.

Stepping outside of what we know can be one of the scariest, and most rewarding experiences, we can take on.

It’s Who Knew Wednesday on The Afternoon Drive, and also National Take A Chance Day! We’re encouraging you to take a chance and take a risk. Maybe that means doing that thing you’ve been wanting to do for years but put off for years, or talk to that person you’ve wanted to speak to…but avoided.

-I was born April 23, 1564, in England

-I was a renowned playwright

-Some of my most well known works include ‘Romeo & Juliet”, “Macbeth”, “A Midsummers Night Dream” and more!

I am…William Shakespeare! Congratulations to Mary from Mount Vernon for naming the right person! She wins a $5 Gift Card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

An American Idol Easter!

Yeah, you read that right. American Idol hosted an Easter special Sunday featuring some legends like CeCe Winans, Carrie Underwood, Brandon Lake and even mainstream artist Jelly Roll!

It’s Artist Newsday and Game Time Tuesday here on The Afternoon Drive, and we’re very excited to see Gospel music making an impact in culture!

Check out Brandon Lake’s performance here!

Plus, the perfect end to your summer is here! Katy Nicole’s album, Honest Conversations, drops August 15th on all platforms!

“He called my name (He called my name)
And He stole my shame (He stole my shame)
Everything changed when I came ___”

That’s the chorus from “Running Home” by Cochren & Company! Congratulations to Bonnie from Mount Vernon for naming that song, she wins the gift cards to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

He is Risen!

We’re so excited for Easter weekend! School getting out for a couple of days is great and all, but celebrating the greatest news ever, that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave to rescue us is even better!

It’s Praise Thursday here on The Afternoon Drive, and we wanna know what you’re praising the Lord for this Easter weekend!

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him.” Matthew 28:6-7

The grave is empty, and because of that we have hope!

Today’s track was “The Cross” by Anne Wilson and Chris Tomlin. Congratulations to Stacy from Mount Vernon for correctly naming the tune and getting the $5 Gift Card to Watts Restaurant in Utica!

Thanks for listening!- Judah

Banana Split!

It’s National Banana Day on Who Knew Wednesday, so The Afternoon Drive wants to know, what’s your favorite way to enjoy this fruit?

By itself? In smoothies? (strawberry banana will forever be an amazing combination). Maybe you’re like me and love a good banana pudding…or even a banana split, which has never done me wrong!

Let us know here!

– I was born in Britain

-I was a comedic silent film star of the 1920’s and 30’s

-I donned an iconic hat mustache

I am…Charlie Chaplin!

Congratulations to Kevin from Coshocton for correctly naming the person! He wins a $5 Watts Restaurant Gift Card!

Teachers Make An Impact!

Teachers can be some of the most important people in our lives….they can encourage, uplift and touch our lives or the lives of young people in a special way!

It’s Who Knew Wednesday on The Afternoon Drive, and we wanted to give a special shoutout to Teacher’s everywhere!

They’re some of the most underappreciated people in our lives, but it’s so important that we have good ones!

If you know a teacher who made an impact on your life, make sure to thank them today!

No Matter What…Give Him Praise!

Easier said than done, huh? We can say this and repeat it to ourselves and others as much as we want…sometimes it just doesn’t help.

It’s Praise Thursday on The Afternoon Drive, and we’re trying to remind ourselves to give thanks in ALL circumstances.

Yep, even when we don’t feel like it, HE is worthy of praise!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

If you’re finding yourself tired, burnt out and maybe just plain over it all, remember that God is always there to lift you up when you need Him.

Today’s track was “Running Back To You” by Seph Schlueter, correctly named by Rochelle from Mount Vernon! She wins TWO $5 Gift Cards to Watts Restaurant since last week’s was a stumper!

First of April Shenanigans

It IS April fools day…but this is hardly a joke.

It’s Artist News Day and Game Time Tuesday, and this is a HUGE month for Christian music!

Gospel Music Association (GMA) excitedly announced that industry leaders and organizations across Christian and Gospel music are coming together for the month of April to celebrate the first annual Christian Music Month (CMM), a movement designed to encourage fans everywhere to listen, engage, and share the power of Christian music. Guess what? You’re doing that right now by listening to WNZR!!

A talented singer named Baylee Littrell is making a name not just for himself, but for Jesus. The 22-year old son of Backstreet Boys star Brian Littrell performed “Hey Jesus” on American Idol , which he wrote about the pain of losing his grandmother three years ago — a loss that deeply shook his world and faith.

Check out the powerful performance here:

“The truth is I am my Father’s child
I make Him proud and I make Him smile
I was made in the image of a perfect King
He looks at me and wouldn’t change a thing
The truth is I am truly loved
By a God who’s good when I’m not good enough
I don’t belong to the lies, I belong to You”

Those are lyrics from Megan Woods’ “The Truth”! Congratulations to Jennifer from Centerburg! She wins TWO $5 Watts Restaurant Gift cards!

Weird But True!

Our world is an amazing, and a very weird, place.

It’s Who Knew Wednesday on The Afternoon Drive, and what better to do for who knew than fun facts…weird fun facts!

Did you know…

A shark grows and loses up to 30,000 teeth in it’s lifetime!

A piece of cake more than 4,000 years old was found in an ancient tomb in Egypt! Must’ve been pretty stale.

Hamster’s teeth never stop growing! As if my fear of rodents needed to be even worse.

A group of jellyfish is called a ‘smack’. What?!

-I was born March 12, 1962 in Los Angeles, California

-I was one of the most feared sluggers in the MLB, known for my prodigious home runs and intimidating presence in the batter’s box.

-I won one World Series with the New York Mets (1986) and three with the New York Yankees (1996, 1998, 1999).

I am…Darryl Strawberry!

Congratulations to Maude from Mount Vernon, she wins the $5 Watts Restaurant Gift Card!

Toby’s Coming To Columbus…

Ok, so we’re a little excited. Actually, VERY excited.

TobyMac is bringing his HITS DEEP tour, along with Crowder, CAIN, Ryan Stevenson and Terrian to Nationwide Arena in Columbus THIS Sunday night! For ticket information, check out our website WNZR.FM!

Still going strong, Toby dropped his latest album, Heaven On My Mind, last Friday!

Plus, Tasha Layton released her live album Worship Through It last Friday. The album features her hit single of the same way, and next week, on Sunday, March 16th, Layton appears as part of the Faith & Friends Series on Fox & Friends Weekend!

“So I hit my knees ’cause I’ve seen all heaven move
(Don’t matter if you hit rock bottom)
(My God pick you up when you call Him)
I pray, “Father, please” ’cause I’ve seen what He can do
(Don’t matter if the storm cloud coming)
(My God come through when you call Him)
These hands have no power
But there ain’t an hour He don’t come through
That’s why when mountains move, I say…”

That was ‘Somebody Prayed’ by Crowder, and congratulations to Scott from Mount Vernon! He wins TWO $5 Gift Cards to Watts Restaurant in Utica, since last week’s was a stumper!

Thanks for listening!- Judah
