Take Dad To Dinner

On today’s Afternoon Drive, we gave you everything you need to know about our Take Dad To Dinner promotion.

With Father’s Day coming up in just under 2 weeks, we want you to tell us why you love your dad and why you want to take him to dinner. Just go over to our website (click here) and click on the Take Dad to Dinner banner for the entry form. Then, on Friday, June 19th, the Morning Thing will share some of these messages on-air and then draw 4 lucky dads to win some awesome prizes! Each winning dad will receive a $25 gift certificate to Jake’s Restaurant located on Coshocton Avenue in Mount Vernon. They’ll also get an NIV Bible and will have the chance to choose 2 prizes from a our special Father’s Day prize stash, courtest of Gospel Supply Shop, including:

  • The book, “A Father God Blesses”
  • A perpetual calendar with 366 inspirational messages
  • The CD “Dad: A Son’s Greatest Hero, A Daughter’s First Love” featuring songs from artists like Sidewalk Prophets, For King & Country, Mark Schultz, and more of your favorite artists
  • The CD “Sometimes It Takes A Mountain” by the Gaither Vocal Band

It was also Game Time Tuesday and we had a Buzzword stumper with the word “Bill”.

Our word of the day was pica, which is an abnormal desire to eat substances that are not normally eaten, such as chalk. Joe read a little bit from an article about pica that we got from kidshealth.org. You can check out the entire article here.

Thanks for listening and have a terrific Tuesday evening!

Sing Something Nice

(This was supposed to post last Tuesday, but never did- so here it is. Oops!)

On today’s Afternoon Drive, we had a continuation of yesterday’s Say Something Nice Day, and decided to share some song titles that say something nice.

While many songs may say something nice, we stuck strictly to song titles that say something nice.

We looked through the WNZR song library and found a bunch of song titles that fit this theme:

God Gave Me You – Dave Barnes

God Is Watching Over You – Phil Joel

God Loves You – Rachael Lampa

Great Are You Lord – Philips, Craig and Dean

He Sends His Love – Point of Grace

I Will Be Your Friend – Michael W. Smith

I Will Be Here For You – Michael W. Smith

Jesus Loves You – Stellar Kart

Lean On Me – DC Talk

Thank You For Being My Friend – Kim Boyce

We Need Each Other – Sanctus Real

Wish You Were Here – Mark Harris

You Are Loved – Rebecca St. James

You Are So Good To Me – Third Day

You Will Never Walk Alone – Point of Grace

You’ll Never Be Alone – Capital Kings

Your Love Is Strong – Jon Foreman

We also looked at Billboard’s All Time Hot 100:

You Light Up My Life – Debby Boone

We Belong Together – Mariah Carey

I Do It For You – Bryan Adams

I Just Want To Be Your Everything – Andy Gibb

I Want To Hold Your Hand – The Beatles

I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

I Love You Just The Way You Are – Billy Joel

You’re Still The One – Shania Twain

Nothing Compares To You – Sinead

Waiting For A Girl Like You – Foreigner

Joe also let me share some of my favorite song titles from my teeny-bopper years that say something nice:

We’re All In This Together – High School Musical

Hello Beautiful – Jonas Brothers

Can you think of any other song titles that say something nice? Let us know which ones we may have missed down in the comments.

It was also Game Time Tuesday and we played Buzzword. Our Buzzword was “egg” and Faith from Mount Vernon was our winner.

We also played song poetry with lyrics from one of our songs that has a title that says something nice:

“Well, I don’t know why it doesn’t come easy, but I know that we could be happy, if we’d only learn to love”

Melissa from Mount Vernon correctly guessed that those lyrics belong to the Sanctus Real song, We Need Each Other.

Our word of the day was chivy, a verb that means to tease or annoy with persistent petty attacks, or to tell someone repeatedly to do something.

Have a terrific Tuesday evening!

Our word of the day was Yooper, which is a native or resident of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. (I like to imagine there’s a superhero who lives on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan who is named that Super Yooper)

Joe was also excited about his Soda Pop Shoppe Jelly Belly jelly beans. We tried all the different flavors – Orange and Grape Crush, A&W Root Beer and Cream Soda, 7-Up, and Dr. Pepper. If you could create any flavor of jelly bean, what would it be?

Have a great evening and thanks for listening!
