Ashes, aged bibles, and Cougar hoops!

Today is Ash Wednesday – launching a time of prayer, reflection and repentance, marking the first day of lent. The ash normally comes from the palm branches of the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebration.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the printing of Gutenberg’s Bible in 1455 – there are only 48 known surviving copies…12 of them are printed on animal skins. Three of them reside at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City.

MVNU men’s basketball opens the postseason tonight against Huntington in the Crossroads League Quarterfinals. Jonathon and Dylan will be on the call. You can hear student assistant coach Ryan Wolfe at halftime for Cougar Conversations. Pregame tonight at 6:45!

  1. I was born  February 22, 1934, in Bridgewater, South Dakota.
  2. I was a player in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization, but never made it to the Major Leagues.
  3. I began my managerial career in the minor leagues in 1964
  4. I managed the Cincinnati Reds for 9 seasons, leading them to back-to-back World Series victories in 1975 and 1976.
  5. In 1984, I became the manager of the Detroit Tigers, and led them to a World Series victory that first season
  6. I retired in 1995 with 2,194 wins
  7. I was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000
  8. I passed away on November 4, 2010, at the age of 76.

Tournament Time!

Today in Artist News I shared about Micah Tyler announced and upcoming project called, People Like Us. This EP is available for per-order and it will be available on March 24th. Tyler also shared that he will be preforming these songs on tour with his labelmates MercyMe on their Always Only Jesus Tour, which kicks off March 2nd. Click for tour dates here!

Jonathon then shared about a really cool story with another American Idol Competitor. Christian singer/songwriter Megan Danielle had a surprise visit from Lauren Daigle. The night before her audition Danielle went to Daigle’s concert in Las Vegas, after hearing her story Daigle surprised Danielle during her audition.

We want to congratulate Liz from Mount Vernon, she won our song poetry today and she won an Easter Action Bible! The lyrics were, “The son of God was laid in darkness A battle in the grave A war on death was waged, and that is Forever by Kari Jobe!

Today we ended the show a little early today as we prepare for MVNU Women’s Basketball tonight at 7:00. The ladies will be playing in the quarterfinals in the Crossroads League Tournament against (6) Marian University. Tomorrow Men’s Basketball will play against (18) Huntington University. Both games will be on 90.9fm WNZR.

Jonathon then continued artist news that Haven Madison, the daughter of Building 429 lead singer Jason Roy, announced on social media that she auditioned for the popular show American Idol. Her audition will be televised on February 19th of American Idol.
