Mystery Monday – 11/16

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive!

Joe hid something in the Mystery Box, and we received several guesses, but Valerie was the lucky winner who guessed that the box contained a pouch of brownie brittle.

We told you all about the Knox Needs Mega Marketplace happening this weekend, and you can head over here for all the information on that and all the other Food For The Hungry events.

Don’t forget to click here for all the details about the Totally Tasty Tom Turkey Hunt, which wraps up this Friday morning at 7:30 am on the Morning Thing.

Our Word of the Day was talisman, a noun meaning an object held to act as a good luck charm. You can read more on that here.

Have an awesome week!

Game Time Tuesday – 11/10

Today was Game Time Tuesday on the Afternoon Drive!

First, Faith and I told you all about Totally Tasty Tom Turkey Hunt. You can find all the information on that here.

You can head over here for all the information on Operation Christmas Child that we shared.

We played Buzzword with the word “cake”, and after several people attempted, Kim from Mount Vernon was our winner!

We also played song poetry with these lyrics: In the face of my depravity / For God so loved the world, He died for me / My fire burns, ‘till He returns / And takes me home beyond the galaxy.

Melody from Mt. Vernon called and correctly answered that those lyrics belong to You Are Not Alone by Owl City and Britt Nicole.

Have a terrific Tuesday evening!

Mystery Monday – 11/9

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive!

It was also the kickoff for the 2015 Totally Tasty Tom Turkey Hunt! You can read all about that here. Congratulations to Sam and Bernelle who got registered today on the show!

Since it was the first day for the Turkey Hunt, I was in a Thanksgiving mood and decided to have a holiday-related Mystery Monday question. I found this poll, that showed some of the favorite and least favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. I asked for you to name 2 of the 3 least liked items, and Teresa from Fredericktown called in and correctly guessed cranberries and sweet potatoes. The other item in the top 3 was vegetables.

I also talked about WinterJam 2016, which you can read all about over here.

Plus, click here for all the information on Operation Christmas Child, which is taking place next week.

Have an awesome week!

Who Knew Smartphones Had So Many Pros and Cons?!

Today was Who Knew Wednesday, and we shared pros and cons of smarts phones.

First, we shared a tip on how you can use your phone to scan and digitize old negatives. Here’s the info from PCMag on how to do that:

Let’s start off by saying that this isn’t the best way to do this. PCMag’s resident photography           expert, Jim Fisher, recommends a Lomography orPlustek OpticFilm scanner if you want to             digitally capture your old negatives the right way. BUT, if you want a quick and dirty way to           digitize (or just view) your old film negatives, you can use your camera’s negative effect (as              seen above) or take advantage of some of the many specialized apps like the HELMUT Film            Scanner (available for Android).

We told you about deadwalking and p-phubbing, which you can read all about over here.

We also shared some other pros and cons that you can find over here.

Head over here to check out all the information on WinterJam 2016.

And click here to see the video of Crowder performing Lift Your Head Weary Sinner (Chains) with Tedashi.

Our Word of the Day was delectation, a noun meaning enjoyment or delight. You can read more on that here.

Have a great Wednesday evening!

Game Time Tuesday – 10/27

Today was a packed full Game Time Tuesday on the Afternoon Drive!

First, we told you all about how you can still register your pastor to win for the last week of Clergy Appreciation Month. Just head over here and tell us why you love your pastor.

We had a round of song poetry using these lyrics:

I wish you never thought you had to go
Wish you never thought you had to leave
Together we can lift each other up
We can build a shelter for the weak

Rob from Fredericktown called in and correctly guessed that those lyrics belong to Tenth Avenue North’s song No Man Is An Island.

We also told you about how you can pick up a doggy goody bag by emailing us a picture of your dog in his/her Halloween costume to wnzr@mvnu.edu. You can find out more information on that over here.

And make sure to mark your calendar for WinterJam 2016! The tour will stop in Columbus at the Schottenstein Center on Saturday, January 9th, in Cincinnati at the U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, February 19th, and at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland on Sunday, February 21st. The tour will feature some amazing artists, like for King & Country, Crowder, Matthew West, Sidewalk Prophets, and many more. You can see the complete line-up and more information on the tour over here.

Our Word of the Day was slapstick, and you can read more on that over here.

Have a great evening!
