Myster-Tea Monday

tea-time

Mystery Monday brought us yet another edition of the Mystery Box.  This week’s mystery item was a Green Tea Bag.  Donna from Mount Vernon called in and correctly guessed the item, and won a 5$ gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley.

Our Word of the Day is Multitudinous, an adjective which means forming a multitude or great number; existing, occurring, or present in great numbers; very numerous.

Mystery Monday!

lilly-razorGood Afternoon!
Today was the first show of 2017, and it was a great one!

Professor Rinehart talked today about how important prayer is, and how prayer should be your first priority. His advice was to keep prayer at the forefront of your mind this year. We serve a God that cares deeply about us, so don’t think that your prayers are falling on deaf ears, God hears every prayer and He will answer them according to His will and in His time.
Psalm 17:6 says
“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.”

New Years was this weekend, and you know what that means? Resolutions!
My New Years resolutions were to stop drinking so much soda and start drinking more water. I know soda is bad for me, so I’d really like to cut back a little. I also want to get my drivers license this year. I don’t like driving all that much, but I need to get my license so my parents don’t have to drive me everywhere. Professor Rinehart said that his resolution was just to keep prayer as a first priority, which is a great resolution.

It was Mystery Monday today! Professor hid the item today and I had to guess  what it was. and the item was a razor!
We learned that it was not a writing utensil, and it also was not a typical office supply.
I said that it was small, light, and it didn’t make any distinguishable sound when I shook the box. When i did the smell test, it didn’t really smell like anything! Whoops. I asked if Professor brought it from home or if it was from the station or if it was something he brought from home. He told me it was from home. I also asked if it was an item you’d find in a kitchen, and he also said no. The touch test let me know that it was a razor! Thanks to Professor for putting the protective cover over it for me! We found out that it was an item that you would find in a bathroom, and also, that this item is normally used in tandem with something else (shaving cream in this case). Congratulations to Ben of Mt. Vernon who called in and got the answer right! He received a $10 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley.

Our word of the day today was yeasayer. We’ve all heard of naysayer before, but a yeysayer is a person with an optimistic and confident outlook, a person who habitually agrees with or is submissive to others.

I hope you had a wonderful New Year weekend! Leave us a comment and tell us what your New Year’s resolutions are! Have a great evening and God bless!

Mountain Dew and Figgy Pudding?

mmblogdec1216

Monday’s Mystery Box item was a can of Eddie’s Mountain Dew stash for MVNU finals week! I think he wants it back…

Congratulations to Pat from Mount Vernon who helped Joe guess correctly. She wins the $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley.

We also are doing the WNZR Christmas Gift Exchange all week on the show, so listen for the cue and be caller #9 at 740-397-WNZR.

We will also spend time this week thanking the many folks involved with the 2016 Knox County Food For The hungry drive.

Our Word of the Day was figgy, as in figgy pudding, a traditional British Christmas dessert, that really isn’t full of figs, and really isn’t what we would consider pudding at all!

figgy-pudding

Notice it looks more like cake – a cake filled usually with raisins, currant and other types of dried fruit. It’s made with a brown sugar, flour and egg base, with some brandy as well.  Plus you are supposed to let it age for 4-5 weeks before eating it. I would just call this fruitcake!

Thanks for listening!

Our Word of the Day today is Druthers, which is a noun that means one’s own way, choice, or preference.

EddieMBoxToday Eddie returned to the show and we brought back the Mystery Box…I hid the item and we went through the hearing, touch and taste tests.

Today’s Word of the Day is PRINK, a verb which means to fuss about your clothes, usually in front of a mirror.  It can also describe the action of dressing up, like “I got all prinked up to go to the prom.”

Mystery Monday – 3/7/16

Today was Mystery Monday on the Afternoon Drive and I had a special guest co-host, Annabelle Harray, WNZR’s Production Director.

We finally had the long-awaited return of the Mystery Box. I hid an item for Annabelle that she described as being small, lightweight, and having a distinct and chemical smell. We received several guesses for everything from sponges to white-out. Mary from Fredericktown called in and correctly guessed that the item was a bottle of nail polish. She picked up a $5 gift certificate to Troyer’s of Apple Valley.

Our Word of the Day was babel, a noun meaning a confusion of voices or sound. You can read more on that here.

We also told you about Spirit Song, the annual 3-day Christian musical festival that takes place at Kings Island. You can find all the information for that over here.

Have an awesome week!
