Today’s Monday Motivation comes from author Bill Crowder and reminds us of the power of music. It can change the direction of our attitude and our day. It can give us great hope when we’re feeling down. It also started a revolution in Estonia!
Today for Monday Motivation we shared uplifting devotionals fitting the theme of Tobymac’s new song ‘Help Is On the Way (Maybe Midnight)’ coming from Our Daily Bread. Joe shared one called ‘Grief Overturned’ written by Linda Washington and you can read it by clicking here.
Alyssa shared a devotional called ‘Trust Me’ written by Poh Fang Chia and you can read it by clicking here.

So…what inspired Jeremy Camp to write the song ‘Keep Me in the Moment?’ Here’s what he shared last March:
“When I wrote this song, it really was inspired by a conversation with my wife Adrienne. We were talking and realizing that our daughter Bella only has a few more years in the house with us because she’s going to go off to college. It really sent us on a trajectory of being more intentional with her, and of course the whole family and just realizing how fast time goes, and I don’t want to miss out on any moment. I realize so much with our society we live in, we have our faces buried in our phone so much, and we’re not even keeping our eyes open to things around us – that God may be trying to reveal things in our family, in friends in our lives or whatever it may be. We’re so caught up so many times in what’s next or what’s tomorrow or planning for next year and I’m not saying planning is wrong, but we may miss what God has for us today. And for me, I don’t want to miss anything that God has for me. I want to stay in the moment. It’s been a life lesson for us right now and kind of a reset button and it’s been so good, I pray it encourages you guys.”
Joe shared more about the power of prayer – our ultimate weapon. We are in a constant battle, so how can we respond? 1. Like James 4:7 reminds us, submit ourselves daily to God 2. Close any open doors that give the enemy access. 3. Pray in the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus and pray the Word!
Name two things in your house that get used more than anything else?
I shared a few notes about tapping into the power of prayer by doing these three things:
1- praying in the NAME of Jesus (Luke 10:17-19; Philippians 2:10) 2- praying the BLOOD of Jesus (Revelation 12:11) 3- praying the WORD of God (Matthew 6)
Name a place where people go, which they insist be clean: 1- bathroom (42 votes) 2- restaurant (30) 3- the kitchen or a fridge (18) 4- hospital (6)
Congratulations to Jan from Howard, who wins the $5 gift card to Everlasting Cup!
Proverbs 27:6 says: Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses. (NIV) You can trust a friend who corrects you, but kisses from an enemy are nothing but lies (CEV)
God offers His people advice on their friendships, which are an important part of spiritual life. Our friendships, and how we treat our friends, can tell a lot about our faith. We need to choose our friends wisely and treat them well. Our prayer is: Lord, build strong friendships in my life and help me to be a good friend in turn.
Name something kids would probably never do in the morning, if it wasn’t for Mom!
1- brush their teeth 2- eat 3- get up 4- go to school 5- wash up
Congratulations to Suzanne from Mount Vernon, who guessed correctly and wins the $5 gift card to Everlasting Cup!
Today we launched our ‘Spread The Love’ contests for Valentine’s week 2021. Congratulations to Vanessa of Mount Vernon, whose question was about the classic song, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” She won $10 to The Gospel Christian Life Shop. Peter from Howard also won an MVNU blanket from the Cougar Corner bookstore – his question was about the top holidays for sending cards (Christmas is #1, followed by Valentine’s Day). Listen to win all week!
Name something that’s hard to get off your shoes.
1- Gum 2- Dog Poop 3- Mud or Dirt 4- Tar 5- Paint
Congratulations to Elizabeth from Mount Vernon, who guessed the top two answers and wins the $5 gift card to Everlasting Cup.
Today’s Monday Motivation focuses on God’s unfailing love, despite our mess, and on joy.
Todd’s devotional today is called ‘The One Who Sees,’ from author James Banks. Read it by clicking here.
Joe’s devotional focuses on joy:
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:9-11 ESV
Not to be confused with happiness, joy is not dependent on external circumstances. It’s a Holy Spirit-inspired mystery that defies all reason. Living joyfully is not denying reality. But in the midst of our ‘parched desert’ times, our heavenly Father reaches to lift and sustain us.
PRAYER: Giver of strength, fill me with Your joy in the midst of sorrow like a desert flower, Amen.
Today’s Monday Motivation comes from the book “3-Minute Devotions”…
#1 Laughter
On your feet now-applaud GOD! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. Psalm 100:1-2 MSG
As children of the Creator Himself, we were made to laugh—to experience great joy. Our design didn’t include for us to carry the stress, worry, and heaviness every day. Go ahead! Ask God to give you a really good laugh today. Prayer: Lord, help me to rediscover laughter. Help me to take every opportunity You bring to see the joy in life and the comedy that it brings to my world every day. Amen.
#2 Christian Living
You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. Ephesians 2:19 MSG
What seems impossible on our own becomes a pleasure when we have help. We are never alone in our Christian journey. We are given one another, and we are even in touch with God’s Holy Spirit. Prayer: O Lord, show me how You want me to be. Open my eyes, my heart, my spirit. Amen.
Name a subject on which people are always giving unwanted advice. 1 – your love life 2 – raising kids 3 – money 4 – weight/health 5 – cooking
Congratulations to Esther from Mount Vernon, who guessed the top two answers and wins the $5 gift card to Everlasting Cup.
