Waffles Wednesday!

National Waffle Day is TODAY! Why? From thenibble.com

In 1869, Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York, a Dutch-American, receives a patent for the first waffle iron in the U.S., on August 24th. Described as a “device to bake waffles,” one heats up the waffle iron over a coal stove, pour batter on the griddle, close the cover and after a few minutes, flip the griddle and cook the other side of the waffle. It becomes very popular. The anniversary of the patent is now celebrated as National Waffle Day.

More history?

In 1620, Dutch “wafles” come to America with the Pilgrims, who spend time in Holland prior to sailing to America. 1735. The word “waffle,” with two “fs,” appears in print in English for the first time.

In 1789, at the start of the French Revolution, Thomas Jefferson returns to the U.S. from his position as Minister to France. Along with a pasta machine, he brings a long-handled waffle iron that encloses the batter and gives the waffle crispness and shape. This begins the trend of “waffle frolics” or waffle parties, where guests can enjoy their waffles sweet (with maple syrup or molasses) or savory (topped with kidney stew).

Tour updates from Amy and Danny…

Today’s Artist News focuses on Amy Grant’s recovery and Danny Gokey’s fall lineup. Read more here and get more artist updates at jesusfreakhideout.com

Amy Grant’s management has announces that she will be postponing her previously scheduled tour dates in September and October due to needing more time to recover from injuries and a concussion sustained in a bicycling accident that occurred in Nashville on July 27, 2022.

All concerts will be rescheduled throughout February – April 2023 and tickets will be honored at the new dates. For further updates please visit amygrant.com.

Grant’s manager, Jennifer Cooke, explained the postponement and gave an update on how Amy is doing: “Amy is getting stronger every day. Just as she did after her heart surgery, we are amazed at how fast she heals. However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina. She wants to be able to give 100% when she tours and, unfortunately, we do not think that will be the case by the time rehearsals would start for the fall dates.

She will resume touring with her Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith and her annual “Christmas At The Ryman” residency with her husband Vince Gill. Amy would like to extend her gratitude for all the many good wishes and prayers offered since the accident. She feels the impact of the collective good will extended her way. Thank you.”

The Healing and the Beginning!

Curb | Word Entertainment artist Blanca released “Mi Sanador,” the Spanish version of her current radio hit “The Healing,” last week.

Her new album, The Heartbreak And The Healing, is set to arrive September 23.

“Mi Sanador (The Healing)” puts a new twist on Blanca’s latest single. Stirring up faith in all who hear this powerful anthem of hope, Blanca shares that she wrote the pop selection as a testimony to the healing she’s experienced in her own heart following a series of life-shaking events.

Blanca reminds listeners that the God who holds the stars and moon in place is the same God who ignites healing in our very souls.

Transparent Productions is excited to announce Big Daddy Weave’s “Only The Beginning Tour 2022” this fall. The 20-city tour will kick off October 5 in Davenport, IA, and will wrap on November 20 in Myrtle Beach, SC, and feature special guests Austin French and Hannah Kerr.

It includes two stops in Ohio – October 20th in Austintown and October 22nd in Archbold

“So many of us have experienced loss and tragedy over the last couple of years that feels like the end of a season or a relationship or a certain path we’ve been on in life,” Big Daddy Weave collectively shares. “What we love about life in Jesus is that He is the God of new beginnings. Wherever we are right now is only the beginning of what’s ahead in Him, and we’re excited to celebrate that message with all of you on the upcoming Only The Beginning Tour.”

Let every heartbreak
And every scar
Be a picture that reminds you
Who has carried you this far
