Who am I?

They make it happen, so we don’t have to!

Thank you to all of our PUBLIC SERVANTS on this day designated by the United Nations to honor them.

To engage in public service is, in general, to work to improve our fundamental human rights, such as access to water, homes, and medical treatment. Those who work with Volunteer Fire Departments and Ambulance Corps are involved in providing services like these, and aiding the security of our homes and ourselves every day. Without them, our cities and towns wouldn’t be nearly as safe, and there’d be no-one to respond when danger calls.

You may be surprised how many people you know that are involved in the public service industry. Do you know a mail carrier? How about a librarian? A trash collector? Did anyone you know serve in the military or work in education? All of these are types of public service, and without them, we wouldn’t live in the world of safety and security we do today.

How can you celebrate Public Service Day??

One way is to head to your local utility providers, city or county agencies, or local fire departments, and send them an email or a social media post, and deliver a hearty thank you to the people who work there and provide you with the services you need. Thank them for restoring power after a nasty storm, or checking to ensure that you have no gas leaks after an earthquake.

Today we also heard a little bit about the Centerburg Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival, starting tomorrow.

A book, a duck, and a PTPer!

Today’s Who Knew focuses on two significant June 9th events…

1- the release of the Book of Common Prayer in 1549

2- the debut (and birthday) of Donald Duck in 1934

The Book of Common Prayer originated from the Church of England as part of the English Reformation after the break with Rome. BOC was the first prayer book to include the complete forms of service for daily and Sunday worship in English.

Read more about its history from Britannica by clicking here.

Donald Duck first appeared in a 1934 film called The Wise Little Hen, a retelling of the original little red hen story. The exasperated, sometimes angry Donald we came to know and love didn’t really show up until later that August in this first movie with Mickey Mouse, Orphan’s Benefit. Since then he has gone on to appear in video games, episodes of cartoons, and stands out as the Disney character who has appeared in the most films to date.

Day of Prayer and Praise! Who Knew Wednesday for Lifeline 2021!

Joe and Lexie praise God for Lifeline 2021’s Day of Prayer & Praise!

They share many testimonies from listeners, and praise God for another chance to celebrate with Lifeline 2021!

our theme this year is Keep Me In The Moment, and we share a lot about how we can stay in the moment.

Lexie in particular shares a devotional about how Every Moment Matters.

Joe talks about toasters! (Trust us it makes sense.)

Sometimes being in a service medium you may feel like a toaster, you’re expected to do what you do and do it well consistently, and it is only when you have hiccups or don’t perform well that you get noticed. Maybe you feel like a toaster, but God likes his toast however you make it! So thank you, for being in the business of serving others!

National Awesomeness Day, Who Knew?

Lexie gives you the details of National Awesomeness Day!

This special national day gives people the chance to recognize how awesome themselves and the people around them are just, to put it plainly, awesome.

The website for National Awesomeness Day shares this: “The International Day of Awesomeness is a celebration of awesomeness. People are awesome every day, frequently don’t realize it, and their feats of awesomeness are rarely recognized. We aim to fix that, with a special day to both perform and celebrate feats of awesomeness!”

Check out the website HERE

Joe thinks of awesomeness as something that makes him feel like he is “in awe.” Things that make him think of that are Babies, and Niagara Falls!

Lexie shares that sometimes we don’t see how awesome we are and maybe that causes you to feel worthless some days. But This Devotional gives us perspective: we are worth it because Christ died for us! And that is pretty awesome.
